That G29 9x25 Dillon 3.8 barrel sounds like a God damn hell hound is barking at you. I think I found my new EDC.
me too! Both DT and UW are using 357sig bullets - 125gr gold dot. (9mm = 124gr)
I run a 23lb wolff spring and guide rod setup. Works for everything 10mm 9x25, 40sw and 357sig. (a little much for 357sig but it still gets the job done). I've had a few problems with DoubleTap not to many. Main problem has been on every caliber it's running slower than what the box says.
Nice Golden Earring in the background. I had to listen close to hear it after I noticed the familiar riff.
23lb wolff on the G29 and 24lb wolff on the G20 - Have probably ~2000rds on each setup with various calibers (10mm, 9x25, 40sw, 357sig) and barrels. Only issues would be those 9x25 DT's and then 357sig seems to be kind of weak...still works 100% just doesn't throw em as far as I'd like.
Main advantage over lighter springs seems to be recoil reduction...hence limits my flinch and makes 10mm fun to shoot. Extreme spreads are less as well.
I love my G20SF, so versatile, 4 different cartriges, bullet weights from 90gr-230gr, velocities from the low 1000fps range up to over 2000fps+. I don't know of any other gun that can do all of that with nothing but a berral change.
4 different cartridges?
I just got a 20 so fill me in jaha
@@Paul-wq4qb A G20 will cycle 10mm (obviously), .40S&W, .357sig & 9X25 Dillon. All you need are the different berrals sold by KKM or Lone Wolf or Dillon for the 9X25
@@SJulianYZ125 awesome information.
Thanks
My list of guns on my "would like to own" list is so long its almost overwhelming, and I already own quite a lot. Last year I was up against the 1 new handgun per month rule in CA just about every month. I managed to find a new SAA in that time, which I promptly snatched up. You might say I have the same addiction! America needs more gun owners,
Great video. Nice to see another 10mm/9x25 shooter out there. I got very similar results on a very hot day with the Underwood. I think that Underwood will be a new player in town, and people will start realize that price vs performance for DoubleTap hasn't been there for a long time. I will be doing a similar test in 10mm with DoubleTap, Buffalo Bore, and my loads. I pretty sure I can guess how they will wind up. Keep up the good work:)
This cartridge in a compact little PDW style AR pistol build would be NUTS.
A 10mm case necked down to a 9mm heh that is some serious power.
Its like sending a lightning bolt into the target lol.
Most people always assume a dealer tells them the truth, which is funny because most ammo manufacturers always overrate their energy for better sales.
yeah I'm going to add a segment to this video showing recoil like I've done with my other ammo tests/velocity vids.
pretty sure both doubletap and underwood advertise their velocities from a 6" barrel.
Awesome video! It seems that Underwood Ammo is true to their velocity claims. Thank you for your time.
Those 125s would probably make a pretty sweet carry load, you know if you're the kind of guy that wants to make an impression on the threat and deafen everyone around including yourself Haha
I'll look forward to that. I'm curios about the 9x25 recoil. Thanks for doing these chrono tests with real world barrels, well except for the 6". I'm surprised that it took the 6" to get the advertised velocity for the Underwood but not surprised the the UW came out on top.
Yeah when I start my new channel I'll do just that and add it on to this vid. But 9x25 is more of a muzzle Blast than a recoil in my opinion. I must say that underwood's 357sig gets darn close to 9x25 velocities.
i watched this many read ago. i got hooked. thanks. L&S from me!
Agreed, except that its still one cartridge (just different loadings), the G20 allows for 4 different cartridges, as well as all the different loadings for each. I like 45-70, I don't own anything that fires it, but would like to get my hands on a Sharps some day. I too agree 45-70 in a hand gun is a wrist killer...no thanks!
Underwood always beats Doubletap in the projected velocity department. What it says on the box is what it really does
That 6” barrel looks like it would be more at home in a Glock 40.
Great video! I shot some Doubletap ammo last week, I knew it felt a little weak! Your data confirms my analysis. Thanks a lot! I'll load my own in the future.
MrRedbull. These videos are outstanding. I would love to see you test the 80 grain barnes 9x25 offered by Doubletap.
It's like owning a 7.5 brno without the $8,000 price tag.
I thought bruno could hit 3k fps
Roy Ward Not even close
@@royward1952 You can't even sniff 3k with 5.7x28 unless you use a carbine length barrel.
The 7.5 FK is even further away from 3k.
7.5 fk is the shit! Man i hope that round takes off.
45-70 - particularly the Marlin 1895. Anything from 250gr @ 2500fps to 540gr @ 1200, with no barrel change and A LOT of variety in between. Not a handgun however (though Magnum Research makes one - no thanks say my wrists).
added links to underwood and doubletap in the description. I guess I can't post a link in a comment. Hope that helps.
oh man it's fun! Especially at distance. Point and Click! felt recoil is for sure less than 10mm.
I'm surprised that there is another distributor that sells the 9x25 Dillon cartridge other than DoubleTap. Thanks
Yup my G20SF has a little slop, whereas my G19 doesn't, or at least its so little its unnoticeable. My Dad's friend's Gen1 G21 has about the same slop as my Gen3 G20SF, I think its normal for the Large frame Glocks to have a little more slop than the smaller frames.
I am not sure on that one. I bought a box once and while it would run so so in my lone wolf barrel it would not chamber in my barsto 9x25 (the only rd that has not chambered in the barsto barrel.
If it helps I kept the velocity data on it - 3.8" G29 LWD = 1819, 1808, 1825, 1800, 1810 6" LWD - 2077 2055 2043 2091 2071
Personally I'd like to see them load the 95gr or 115 barnes instead. ...just my opinion of course.
You have created a great resource with your channel. I chose 2 new Glocks based on our videos (G33 Gen4, G32 Gen4, G20 Gen4). I would love to see a recoil demonstration of your G29 and G20 loaded with some Underwood 9x25 Dillon as I'm considering adding both configurations to my arsenal. Does the 9x25 have more recoil than 10mm??
How is the felt recoil with the Dillon? I have been thinking about getting a barrel for my G20.
How loud is the 9x25? I've heard it's pretty crazy loud and the blast is pretty ridiculous
Looking at the 135gr 10mm different barrels video that I did ...I see the 135 out of a 6.61" LS threaded 10mm barrel I got 1737 with the 135. So I guess if you sliced it down to 6.00" like the 9x25 barrel is, they'd probably be almost identical. (6" 9x25 Underwood 125 avg 1699) Both barrels are lone wolf. All that said - I agree with you ...seems like the 9x25 should/could push it faster?
Underwood is the best value and performance of any ammo manufacturer out there. I will keep buying there stuff time and time again so long as they keep the same value and don't get all elitist on us like Double Tap and Buffalo Bore. Anyways, I look forward to your future videos here. Will your new channel be under the same name?
I practically drool over any Sharps I see even after finally getting my Marlin. Apparently I'm just addicted to guns that I don't yet have...not sure if there is a cure for that.
another awesome video. this is a interesting round that you dont hear much about, but is super hot. what do you think the penetration is on this round, and do you think the bullet holds up?
I'd love to have an MPK with a barrel just long enough to squeeze every bit of velocity out of that 9x25mm
Those results are what one would expect from a hot loaded .357 Magnum revolver, but in shorter barrels and a large magazine capacity.
Do you have any "play" in the rear of your G29 slide? The slide to frame fit of my G29 is loose and I can physically move it from side to side a few millimeters or so to the right/left over the rear slide rails. My G23 doesn't do that, so I was just wondering if that was normal for the bigger glocks. Thanks
Don't think those dots are meant for that velocity,I think up close they would just peel back and lay on the core, the 90 grain extreme defender is the way to go.
Please do LONG RANGE accuracy with the longer 2 barrels and Underwood (Dbl Tap always overstates their fps).
...and Does it over-penetrate gel or other media with 147gr bullets, or does all that energy result in a heavy enough bullet like 147 "mushrooming" enough to make a complete energy-transfer into the vict... er, aggressor's ;-) corpse?
I just got a G32 in .357 after learning about it a month ago.. now I find out about this.. well, guess I need a Glock 10mm now..
It would be awesome to see this in a carbine of some sort like an AR or even a single shot
I used underwood and it feels way too hot, It seems like double tap may be a tad lighter, I'll give them a shot.
yeah pretty disappointed in double tap lately. They seem to be falling short on everything. Used them for years. The Underwood stuff was about half the cost of double tap
(It wont let me reply to posts)
10mm doesn't get the same fp/force the 9mm does. 6" barrel 9x25 underwood gets 1200joules of force. Highest I know of at 6" with a internal grip magazine. Upgrade to revolvers for higher joules. 10mm barely makes 1050 joules at a 8" barrel with underwood ammo.
check out my 460 rowland video :)
Really? Far below 1100J is wheere all loads I've seen are getting flat primers (for both me & my sources), and 9x25 is similar shell/powder volume*chamber pressure as 10mm.
. . . What powder, OAL, grains fo projectile & fps are you getting, please?
Replies are showing now. It's underwood test ammunition on a website I'm referencing. Unfortunately, my computer died since I've posted what you replied to and the links are lost. I just spent an hour trying to re-google every four word combo with "9x25" trying to find that post again. He was a bench tester and the post is something around the time frame of 2002-2005 with all the information he compiled. (google has an anti-gun thing and I believe that website is on their exclusion list since sandy hook)
other than using a conversion barrel, did you use a different RSA? if so what spring weight?
Did you have to change out the recoil spring to a heavier one on the Glock 29? So far hows the reliability been on the Double Tap stuff running through your Glocks? Great vid!
Sir, there is some play on both my G29 and G20 but not much.
What happened to the summary??
I'll put out a video with link to new channel once it's ready. Will be called AmmoTest
Where do you buy the Underwood ammo from?
What lb recoil spring you using in that Glock 20?
I honestly would have expected the 9x25 Dillon Underwood to outperform the .357 Sig Underwood by more than this. Underwood's 125 gr .357 Sig flies out of a 4" barrel over 1500 and out of a 4.5" at closer to 1550.
I usually carry .357 barrels in my Glock 23 and 27, and was considering a 9x25 Dillon barrel for my G20, but it seems that in order to really take advantage of this round, you need at least a 6" barrel.
Cleatus Van Damne I would say to double check with Underwood. I think they may have redeveloped this cartridge since I did this video. I know he developed the 357sig a couple of times well after this vid was done.
Yeah the more powder you use the more of an advantage a longer barrel becomes over shorter.
Cool, thanks- you are right about the Sig round. Now that you mention it, I recall they also redeveloped their 44 magnum loads I want to say about a year and a half ago, too, boosting the 240s up to 1500 and the 300s up to 1300.
It's pretty simple... you need a longer barrel, or else a faster-burning powder formulated for a short-barrel. If nobody makes factory-loads that burn fast, you need to hand-load for such a short barrel.
Any cartridge with small bullet weight relative to heavy powder weight (in grains) will do best out of a longbarrel, so that's what they tend to formulate factory-loads for, but you can handload faster-burning powders -- it'll kick SHARP instead of a longbarrel's more gradual/controllable recoil, though.
A 9x25 does >1600fps with a 5.2" bbl, and 5.2" is even concealable in a belly-holster while allowing you to sit down and touch your toes for most men of normal (>5'5") stature.
the cartridge is usually loaded with a slower burning powder designed to work in longer barrels so it is not going to be as much of a benefit out of shorter barrels as it is out of a longer Barrel compared to 357 Sig.
The problem is the case thickness of the 10mm at the crimped shoulder area where necks down and where the case fails. If a proper case could be developed for the 9x25 dillon, this would dramatically increase the pressures this case can handle thus increasing the bullet velocity.
How much change did you have in your pocket?
I like your ammo test.
check out the video on g40 glock w/ 7" barrel. @hansandgroot channel
The short barrel seems like what .357Sig is supposed to be. 1450.
Which runs better 40 super or 9x25?
I think you still have the links in the wrong place.
Is that thing really that loud 😳
what was the temp the day of the test?
Don't see a point to use the 9x25 as a carry round, would stick with 10mm.
@Pat Micucci I call bullshit
thanks for that info and the great video
I don't reload. but that sounds like a fun setup.
That thing sounds like a hi power rifle.
You should hear it in an indoor range . People think I'm shooting a .556 Lmao.

I us to have a AMT Auto Mag .30 Caribine. Never was allowed to shoot in the handguns lane. Range Masters told me "move to rifle lane or leave" miss that flamethrower.
@@solarflare1008 I want one of those.
haha especially with the G29 3.8" barrel version
If you ever see this and want to sell this barrel, let me know 😬😬😬
Is 40 Super more powerful than 10mm?? What AUTOLOADER is more powerful than 10mm??
40 Super completely OBLITERATES 10mm. 45 Super also outclasses 10mm.
Top dog in the class of 10mm and 40 super would probably be 10mm auto magnum or 41 JMP automag. 41 obviously being a 41 cal not .401
Basically all the -08 based cartridges give a good advantage over 10mm from the lowly 45-08 up to 44AMP and 45 Win Mag. 475 Wildey is based on 284 brass with the rebated rim IIRC. Pistol brass based options 45 super(or 460 rowland) 40 super and might include the 38 Casull.
The real question would be how big of a hand cannon do you want and do you handload? 45 super, 40 super and 10mm Auto are a bit of a sweet spot because you don't need a giant LAR Grizzly, Automag, Wildey or Desert Eagle. 45 super out of a USP is a dream to shoot, no worse than +p in a 1911.
I'd like to know!!!
Nice 👍
there is already a .357 automag so they probably dont want any confusion
I want to convert my glock 40 to 9x25
should call it the .357 magnum auto or the sig magnum
In your opinion, which is better? Underwood 10MM, or Underwood 9x25 Dillon?
depends on what your going to use it for.
That dot would make a huge mess...lol
probably around 80
probably just plastic lol
My Sig P229 has a 6in Bar-Sto barrel that produces velocitys over 1700fps bro. Trash that ugly plastic gun and get a real battle gun a "$ig P229" 😎
Peter Gun where's all the aftermarket barrels for your Sig? Oh wait there is none :(
Bar-Sto & EFK
Peter Gun and you're full of shit 357 doesn't get up to 1700fps
357 Sig*
Some of the videos on here show Underwood 357 125gr stuff usually clocks in the 1550fps range from a g31 so 1650-1700fps may be possible from a 6" tube but have never tested factory stuff.
In my handloads I have to load 125s in the sig to 9x25 length (1.275") and run a full grain above the underwood charge to get a 1736fps average in my 6" g20 barrel. I had to lengthen the throat in the barrel to be able to load long. So yes 1700fps is possible from the sig, it just takes a little work and quite a bit of pressure.
