Great discussion on the umpiring drama and all the different facets and perspectives. This is now one of my favourite footy chat channels to frequent each week, especially with the recent addition of time stamps. Love your work Skeets and Schoey! 👍

Footy has become weird, in the sense that there is the notion now from afl house and the afl in general that if you aren’t employed via the afl, your not allowed to talk on it or your opinion is discarded. Put me 1v1 with any afl ceo and let us talk footy, I’ll eat these clowns up mate

Amiss’ run-up was more staggered in the games he was less accurate. Playing Sydney there was significant more momentum in his run-up and his accuracy improved.

As a fan, and especially as a member of the West Coast Eagles - I'm used to the AFL taking me for granted. Dillons comments are predictable and on brand.
Have a look at their track record. They wilfully manipulate the rules and laws of the game to suit their own agenda, and their agenda is ruled by one thing - money.
They've literally never given a shit about the fans. They've taxed my club (and hence, it's members and fans) HARD since it's inception, and they continually piss that money away on vanity projects, basket case clubs, and perks for overpaid AFL executives and corporate sponsors.
Fuck the AFL. I hope someone comes along with a ton of cash and starts a rival league. The AFL don't own the game of Australian Rules Football, what they own a mockery of a once great Australian sporting tradition.

Umpiring may be hard in a fast moving game, but there is a need for improvement, as they can make enough mistakes (through giving or not giving the frees), to decide which teams actually win the match.
By making the number of umps 6 per match, one for each of the 5 "team lineups", with 2 in the centre line, which sees much of the play.
The umpire in the full-forward line (and any of the other lines) is on the spot for "before in play" infringements, and a better chance to get it right.
Umps could also adjudicate in "lines" adjacent to that they are there for.
This may also help with mistakes made because of fatigue.

They need to bring in someone to debut. Be it Hall Burgoile... also a guy performing like Trew and Culley needs a shot. That is because it will bring an excitement and enthusiasm (through youth making debuts) to the team. And its obvious to everyone that the Eagles have hit the wall and struggling to play with energy. That's why I'd be picking some kids. Rawlinson is another one. But its not good for morale to see guys really putting in missing out and then the other guys are getting games every week and not performing.

Amiss leans back too much in his set shots. Real risk of spraying it. Easy to get range leaning back on the ball but you lose accuracy.

Maybe J Williams spends some time down back if they're short of tall defenders. Even at WAFL level. It will help him learn his craft. Its hard to play in forward line at Eagles league or reserves.

Sorry but why does Laura Kane get tied in knots. Let me think - doesn’t have technical knowledge, doesn’t understand the game, inexperienced in a top level role etc etc.

    Boys I have an idea:
Give someone 6 weeks doing AFL umpiring instead of 12 months behind bars
May nor improve umpiring much but will certainly reduce the crime rate

Simpsons weakness has been his loyalty to premiership players and it’s understandable as they were part of his greatest achievement. However its come at a cost to the development of younger players. WCE need the best up and coming developmental coach to grow with the team as Simpson will not be part of the next era of success

Here I'll fix the umpires, take it back to three. Teach umpires (maybe they already know) that a missed free kick is better than a wrongly paid free kick. If you miss a decision, oh bloody well, that's footy.

There used to be six matches each weekend and one umpire per match. Six umpires. Nowadays there are 9 matches per weekend and 4 umpires. So that makes it 36 umpires in total. So of course there would be umpires not as experienced. But I think the umpiring has been pretty good.
