I think Obie is a prime example on the idea of love after a loss of one. It's okay to feel hurt by it, and it's normal to not feel like anything can replace it. But, by being able to move on, you're allowing yourself to find new love. It's not meant to replace the love you felt before, but add the happiness and care back into your life that you lost.

A little over 7 years ago we lost our 15 year old golden retriever, He was an old giant, always friendly with everyone, If he was ever on a leash it was only so because of requirements, He would always walk right beside you, was great with kids.. Loved that big old guy
It just takes a while for your heart to heal enough to bare weight again. It's important to remember, loving a new dog will never diminish the love you have had for the other dogs that have traveled the rainbow. Love is an additive art. The more you give the bigger it gets.
