More than 17 years later I still get moved about this. That we got to experience this rare event. I still remember the fireworks, the feeling of entering the new Millennium. It still moves me. I will never forget that.
I was 17 back then. I still remember the feeling too. The anticipation. Then the clock stikes midnight and you felt like you were a part of history in the making. No other generation except the generations alive at this moment in time right now who are old enough to remember this moment won't experience another millennium until the next 2,000 years or so.
@H965A new year, a new decade, a new century and a new millennium! It felt so special but little did we know the horrific surprises in store for us in the years following.
I was 11. Very emotional memories off a !magical night . I am now 33 and a mother off three . With every new year , I can't believe life is passing so fast . When I watch this , I am that little girl all over again.
Happy new year! I was there. It feels like a million years ago, on New Year's Eve 1999, when we hiked home from the fireworks on the Thames to Kensington Olympia, with our 8-month-old daughter in a Baby Bjorn on her daddy's chest. Thank you so much for sharing this as I relived an extraordinary New Year's memory.
Wolfgang Frick . Well, I guess you *do have a momentous event to look forward to : .. mankind possibly landing on Mars. I think that has more relevance to the development of mankind ... more than a measurement of time changing from 1,999 to 2,000 ;-)
Wolfgang Frick i was born in late 1995 and i didn't get to see it either lmao, i don't even remember anything prior 21st century since memories don't come till around 4-5 :(. lame isn't it?
I was there near Westminster Bridge! Thank you so much for this, I didn’t have any photos or film of that night. We were so close to the fireworks couldn’t see or hear a thing 😄 It felt very special anyway, marking the new millennium, I’m glad we were there.
I was nine years old , my family had a massive party , i was excited because i was allowed to stay up to 3 or 4 In the morning haha i guess i dident understand the importance of the event at the time , 15 years ago how time flies and how things change in life :(
It must've been awesome being fully an adult understanding how cool and you're living through a milestone in time through the 2nd century to the 3rd. I was born in 2004 -_-
In 1998, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA, I went to a Baseball game to see the former Baseball team the Winston-Salem Warthogs vs. the Durham Bulls Carolina League Baseball team and it was the Durham Bulls last game and the fireworks were just as big as these!
Was 19 years old , still remember it very well, it was crazy. Wild party every corner of the street, gridlock everywhere, full party , it was a good time , memories
I still vaguely remember this, I would have been around six years old but I vividly remember climbing up a tree along the Thames just where the city hall would now be.
I was 12 years old, and was home alone. My mom and her friends were out partying. And outside of my home was 4 feet of snow. I was playing Metal Gear Solid on the PS1 until around 8:30pm when the snow and ice knocked out the weather. Spent that rest of the last night of the 90s in my bedroom staying warm with small kerosene heater and went through like 20 batteries between my Sega Game Gear, Gameboy and my Walkman and portable CD player before I fell asleep around 3am 😆 Woke up on the first 2000 morning, power was back on, microwaved pizza rolls for breakfast, watched some cartoons, and then went sleigh riding with friends.
My eyes! The blurring from the fireworks! The grainy picture! And does anyone know a video of the full celebration on it?! I was 3 . . . DAYS old when this happened.

I was there on the embankment and honestly it was not worth the effort to be there.. All the stations where closed and a 25 Minute journey to get home took about 4 hours.. Knowing what I know now I would have spent the time with the same people but in a local pub or round a house party... I have not been into central London for a new year since TBH...
Hello. A couple of days ago I uploaded videos from the millennium videos too, but from Prague ( first video from Wenceslas Square at 23:35. The second one from Old Town Square with Czech countdown from the main celebration and the third video is a walk through Paris street directly to the main celebration with a monstrous firework. It was a very raucous celebration. It was amazing. Hope you enjoy the videos. The main thing is that I experienced this. It's a very nice memory of a huge celebration of the new millennium. Thank you for your attention and your very nice video. Greetings from the Czech Republic. :-)
The thing i remember most about that night was that there was about 10× the amount of fireworks in comparison to a normal NYE and the othe thing was Cherie and Tony Blair singing and holding hands with the Queen in a line along the thames, unforgettable lol
I've watched Tagesschau 2000 Millennium,(fragment) and 1000 fireworks are blowing up and Live in London, the human of Big Ben has smiling human of clock of Big Ben
