One of these kids went to my high school. He was always a nob and it was bound to catch up with him... horrible the way these girls were made to feel. Well done for being brave enough to stand up for what's right 🙏
Joshua M no, they threatened women and there was reason to believe a lot more happened (both from people who had known the boys personally, and because of a video they shared)
I'm not saying I don't agree with you, but that would be outrageously difficult to control. Are you only meaning universities, or are they banned from educational facilities in prison too? What about online education where you can do A-levels and degrees online? If their work wants to send them and their department to a training seminar? Logistically, it would be a nightmare.
@@India.H yeah agreed, I meant all educational facilities where they are to come into contact with young women or children. As a Warwick alumna, I am disgusted and shocked at how blasé the uni authorities seem to have been in punishing these young men, and not apologizing personally to the women for the distress caused by letting some of them back on campus just a year later. A sign of how general misogyny in our society becomes "normalized".

For one of the most prestigious, and Russel group universities in the UK, I find it absolutely appalling that this could happen, and the lack of support the university gave.
I've been at the University of Warwick for two years and, despite this utter atrocity, I can say that is definitely one of the most progressive and inclusive universities in the UK. I understand it might be frightening for prospective students to watch this but I think that the protest march (which I took part in) is a testament to how the majority of us at the university perceive the misogynistic, racisist and antisemitic views of the men involved. Unfortunately these kinds of people will exist regardless of where you study :(

Repressed men who have no concept of the damage words, outdated opinions, sexual entitlement and chauvinism have on not only women but the wider male population. Men unable to have the empathy nor the emotional intelligence to see that this disgusting behaviour reflects on us all. Men who are ignorant to themes such as ‘not in my name’ or the ‘me too’ movement. I am not a snowflake, and I will always be a staunch supporter for the fair and equal treatment of women everywhere. And yes, I am still ashamed, saddened and outraged at the horrendous acts committed ‘in my name’ or at least ‘in my gender’ against women, no matter how ‘small’ or passive these acts might appear to be. It reflects badly on us all. Women should be celebrated for the fabulous and amazing people they are, not preyed upon, unsupported by their male counterparts. Finally, thank you Miss Fitz :)
Ryan Vandeput nonsense! I have nothing to do with this behaviour, as a man. This group identity idea is the foundation for all sorts of discrimination. how has this become an attack on warwick? if even these individuals’ closest flat mates were left in the dark for so long how could the uni have known? This issue is a generational one and a result of lad mob mentality - Warwick is as much of a victim. They handled it well, in that they protected the existing students, enforced better protocols and issued a punishment that was firm but also allowed the possibility for the boys to change and still have a future. Bearing in mind the boys by this point suffered social ostracism and career suicide. We forget these are 19 year olds, who should have a chance to change. I went to warwick, it’s a truly great university and doesn’t deserve to become victim to this bs
wait till you have a daughter and see if you still think these boys should be given a chance to "reform" smh. Any backlash and punishment these lads got they deserved like you can be kicked out for being disrespectful to staff etc. which compared to potentially planning out rape seems quite minor.
"Just jokes" A joke needs a premise or unexpected turn that provides relief or empathy with the person telling the joke or empathy with the target of the joke. Just saying the most horrendous acts and finding it funny or empathising with the perpetrator of said acts is just a self-snitch that you find the acts themselves to be humourous.
One of the many reasons why I want to stop hanging around men. This toxic masculinity has got to stop. I'm a guy myself and don't feel safe with men so I can only imagine the horror that women have to go through.
First off of course not all men are like that and I advise trying to find them, basically a positive male role model. I do wanna give you props for saying what you did cause that's what makes you a real man, these sad little boys mocking you are just the real shits of the world. My 18 year old son is now at Warwick, and I can tell you that if he were ever in such a group and if he had joined in this frankly disgusting, verbally dark violent and disrespectful ‘chat’ about girls they all lived with and studied with, then I would be deeply ashamed of him, and have no issue with his being kicked out. Even if did not speak up and say ‘that is not ok guy’s I’d be disgusted with him. The ones leading and joining in with this are simply disgusting pos, and need retraining as human beings. I’m a student at Warwick and I hate how I’m now I associated with this disgusting behaviour - so many people worked hard to get into this uni and for its reputation to be thrown away is really upsetting for most students who go here

Joshua M no, they threatened women and there was reason to believe a lot more happened (both from people who had known the boys personally, and because of a video they shared)
Every single individual in that group chat should have been banned from educational facilities for life.
This means all on campus training facilities (schools, colleges and universities) there's not much you could do about in work training. If we're speaking idealisticly here then just throw them in the sea where they belong!
The man perpetrators need to be put on a fekking sexual offenders watch list!!
That is so very dark.
As a Warwick alumna, I am disgusted and shocked at how blasé the uni authorities seem to have been in punishing these young men, and not apologizing personally to the women for the distress caused by letting some of them back on campus just a year later. A sign of how general misogyny in our society becomes "normalized".
Chloe Furnival totally agree. It’s should be unacceptable, but it isn’t. It’s normal now. I shudder to think what this uni might become if this continues.
not apologizing personally to the women
what do they have to apologize for?
this is a story about a girl being nosey
Sanguinius they spoke about raping specific women, one of them SHOWED a girl the chat, and they spoke about actual instances of rape and drugging of women on campus. There was a police investigation surrounding a video, but the girl involved didn’t press charges and that’s why that particular one was dropped. So, no, it’s not just nosey women.
Why should the university apologise? They werent part of the group chat, and they banned whoever was.
Sat in bed watching this, feeling physically nauseous.

Unfortunately these kinds of people will exist regardless of where you study :(
i was class of 2017 for this uni and I gotta say when news for this story broke 2 years ago i was shook

of course, there's been other incidents before this where an isolated act of extreme racism was caught and reported but it was never a jackpot of racism + sexism + ableism + rape threats all rolled into one, and perpetuated by an entire group, like this.
the saddest thing isn't knowing that guys like this existed / exists among that bubble we had at the uni, it's knowing that the administration is doing shit all to actually protect us. but then again, why should we be surprised when this uni is clearly ran by money.

@R RQ lol, read a dictionary and restablish your morals xx
Miss Fitz / It’s a very typical white male entitled reaction, from a vocal minority of men who are unable to see the wider picture. Men who are afraid to confront the things done in ‘our name’ by our fellow man.
The amount of people that don't seem to realise this could be classed and prosecuted as hate speech in the UK is staggering. Any form of communication in the UK which is deemed to be abusive and/or threatening is classed as hate speech. The only crime here is that those jokes are just not funny (out of context). We live in a world of iPhones being made by suicidal Chinese people, and our moral compass dictates that privately shared words are enough to cast people away. Stones from glass houses people.
