huge fan of Brian Jungen’s, especially his first Jordan/Mask creations. So sad that I’ve missed the show, will have to keep an close eye on his future exhibitors. Bravo!
Probably the wittiest Canadian artist. The skinned leather from sofas sewn into tipis was , well , hilarious , poignant ,gently retributive and simply brilliant. His contribution is probably the best example of that often overlooked salvatory attribute of the dispossessed -humour.
People who aren't into art are gonna see this and think it is even more idiotic than they already do. Some people can't even afford a pair of shoes. Kind of disgusting.
If you find it wasteful then how can you say you're into art. He uses both $5 plastic chairs and $300 Jordans. If you listen you can hear him explain his fascination over the commodification of theJordans, comparing it to Native CDN art.
You do realize the amount of resources and so-called waste that goes into making movies and television? Will you be boycotting those? I suppose not. You do realize the vast money and resources that go into professional sports? Should that time and money go into charity? Are sports and movies and TV also "disgusting?"
