DoF, aerial perspective, & camera shake in After Effects - VFX Plane Part 06 [Deprecated Workflow]

- In the final part of this series, we composite depth of field and atmospheric perspective using a Z Depth pass. Also, learn how to create bloom in V-Ray and After Effects, camera shake, and add film grain. At the end, we render out a preview file using the Media Encoder. Thanks for watching!
*This series uses a deprecated sRGB workflow and non-PBR materials. The preferred color management workflow is to use ACEScg, which has been the default since Maya 2022. Please refer to the Razor Crest series for the ACEScg color management and PBR workflows.

Thank you! Have a happy New Year!
You’re awesome, this was great. I’ve been doing this for years and I still picked up a few things. Really well done, good info, perfect tempo, easy to listen to. Good work.
Awesome! Thank you!

19:35 you can also apply Motion Tile to mirror the edges if you don't want to scale
Good point
How Create this in video footage?
Not easily. You'd probably have to rotoscope elements of the plate and color the mattes to create a natural looking depth pass. There are a few tools that do this automatically. I've tried Depth Scanner, but I can't recommend it right now. The results are too jittery.
Thank you, its great
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Nice work! Hope to see more tutorials like this, such as compositing of interaction between some complete characters and virtual objects, want to know how you would consider making them realistic in every detail at every layers.
Just to ask a little bit, the HDRI background is almost immovable, it makes the last few frames of the composition feel a little bit broken and fake.Is there a good way to fix that. Just a personal opinion, please forgive me if I offend that
By default, the dome light texture does not move and shouldn't unless you're doing a time-lapse or the world must move around the object. Now, all animations in Maya ease-in and ease-out by default, so to prevent the camera slowing down to a stop, select the last keyframe for each camera channel and make the tangents linear. That should fix the issue. Ideally, you would also have 3D clouds closer to the plane which would give the scene more depth too, and the perceived parallax would increase, adding more movement to the scene.
@@CGStirk Thank you for your additional answers. Is there any chance that you can make a supplementary video to simulate those 3D cloud? The speed and depth of field of the cloud seems to be more difficult to control. By the way the previous videos helped me sort out a lot of doubts, a lot of the details are pretty obscure but you've introduced them too, thanks again to your nice tutorial and keep going.
You are a great artist bro
Thanks bro!

Nice work. I love to see artists sharing their work from this series! One note about the exhaust, make sure to blur the Exhaust matte with a Fast Box Blur. Don't blur the Exhaust adjustment layer otherwise you will still see hard edges.
@@CGStirk Thank you very much for checking the video and giving tips, I wasnt sure why my exhaust was different from yours but now i know. I will blur the exhaust matte, Great Tutorial , Cheers :)
You're welcome! It's a step that I somehow cut from the video 🤦♂️. Thanks for checking out the channel!
