i rode nighthawk for the first time yesterday and, after i finally got through the slow line, i really liked it!! it did rattle pretty much the whole time, but it was nithing painful, and if anything, might've added to the intensity, which is why i enjoyed it that much. i also got on the second-to-front row which probably helped with the roughness
I personally enjoyed Nighthawk over Copperhead strike, my wife even enjoyed it more than the B&M fliers we have been on. Only ride I had to wait for on my visits was Nighthawk.
same dude!! i love nighthawk, i’ve also ridden superman ultimate flight. easy #4 in the park. a little bumpy but it didn’t feel bad on my back. i didn’t find the restraints too bad either. and the Loop was awesome!
Maybe it's my lack of coaster experience, but I enjoyed Nighthawk and I hope to ride more Flying Dutchman coasters in the future though I recognize that may not happen. It's a shame as I like the "flying" sensation, but it's not necessary for me to have fun.
rock n roller coaster at disney m g m. my lord the last time i rode it i got off with 1 headache, 1 neck ache, and feeling like a pile of garbage. it needs some serious re-tracking done
i love night hawk and always will. for me the reason i will always love it was because it was the first coaster i ever rode. i rode it the very first season it was open when it way called the borg asimalator when it was green. while it may be past its time and prob going to be replaced soon it could be a great addition to smaller or independent family owned park
I honestly never had a problem with Nighthawk (except its capacity). I think it’s fine for what it is. My GP friend who had never ridden a flying coaster actually preferred this to Fury (lol). While I didn’t like it that much, I’d put it in the “decent” category, which to me (after Fury and Copperhead) encompasses basically every coaster here not named Hurler or Vortex
I think Nighthawk is not too bad and the flying part over the water is fun, but it has terrible operations and capacity and the trains are awkward. Also sometimes the sun will kill your eyes while going up the lift hill or sitting on the brake run. It is my #5 in the park though as it does have some fun moments.
I absolutely love Nighthawk. while some of your points make sense like capacity i think they’re irrelevant to the coaster itself. for me it’s the quality of the ride. Also Idk but I was fine after nighthawk no vertigo nausea and a lil bit of a headache i get that after 95% of coasters tho. Despite that after 2 rides on Fury I had nausea, vertigo, and the worst headache I’ve ever had. I actually threw up thrice that night
The people who hate Nighthawk the most are the Carowinds home-park-ers. There's a tier of rides here like this, Hurler, Cyclone, Woodstock, where you sometimes feel like taking a ride, because you're tired of the 4 good ones. However, Nighthawk always has a line that's not worth the wait. Even on the most empty days, I would rather hit Hurler and Cyclone than wait the 40min for Nighthawk, because that's actually the wait on most "empty" days.
I loved Nighthawk! As someone who loved the late Firehawk at Kings Island, riding Nighthawk brought back memories. I agree the capacity is pretty bad, which is why I always rode it first thing in the morning.
It smashes the give a crap out of you, and so do the B&M's. Flying isn't just about position, it's about the feeling, and while the loops may be "intense" they don't feel like what you would do if you could fly. And then with this one I don't even think you could fly like the corkscrews. It starts out wonderful too. Could be fun to laugh at companions though! Ridiculous. Yeah it's love or hate.
If this ride had better capacity, and I didn't have to sit on my back for 3 minutes on the final brake run, this could be top3 or 2 in the park for me. I knew it was going to be intense, but it was so much crazier than I expected. The rattle honestly added to the ride imo, because it caused me no pain, and it just added to the craziness of the ride. It's a solid number 4 in the park for me.
I've never gotten to experience the Flying Dutchman. When this was Stealth I was as CGA during construction but didn't return until after it was removed. Also I was at Six Flags America 2 days before Batman opened and never returned. Hopefully one day I'll be able to ride at least one of them before they close forever. From what most people tell me I'm not missing much since I have ridden B&M flying coasters.
I am visiting Carowinds for the first time in June, and I'll ride Nighthawk once in my two days there. I rode a Flying Dutchman at SFWoA in 2001, it was very meh. But I will get this credit, and I'll hit it first thing to get it out of the way.
nighthawk would be good if it had good capacity when i rode i was on the brakes for a while, probably half the length of the coaster, and the line's always absurdly long
I've only ever done Batwing and all the times I've ridden I have not felt good in those restraints despite their massive bulk. The positives feel like its ripping me out of them and while I'm sure it's safe it's just not an enjoyable sensation for me, even though I enjoy airtime and positives on pretty much any other coaster.
I think it's #5 in the park, maybe I got a good ride but I found it very intense and fun. The worst part was sitting in the brake run with the beating sun in your face though.
You hit it way too hard on the head, i ran right to this when i went to the park for the first time. As for bad coaster reviews, your take on Hurler would be interesting
The only flying coasters I've ridden are Galactica and Tatsu, so there's no way I could fairly compare it to Nighthawk, even if Galactia was lame and Tatsu was intense. Does it make me a bad person because I've never ridden an old Vekoma Flying Dutchman? If so: that'd make every coaster enthusiast who's never experienced and entire Wagner opera at least as much of a loser who's never experienced F.L.I. at Phantasialand, or Flying Dinosaur in Japan. Even I don't think that about anybody. The again: I've never ridden a Vekoma Flying Dutchman, so WTF do I know?
I mean, Nighthawk isn't a bad ride at all, although I did experience those terrible ops and that long line when I rode. Probably not a great coaster for the park, but the ride itself I found fine. Didn't notice the roughness, and it was fun. Would take it over Superman Ultimate flight at my home park of SFGAm but not over Manta. For the park I'd honestly say it's somewhere between 3rd and 5th, and I'm leaning third. Just didn't find Afterburn and Intrimidator all that fun when I went. Both were kind of boring. Nighthawk, despite its flaws, had many good moments I enjoyed.
This is worse than the bad coaster review on Corkscrew. I expect Nighthawk to be the 5th best coaster Carowinds. Hell, even better than Batwing! If you know the most painless row on Nighthawk, please let me know(remember to be SPECIFIC).
Nighthawk is my least favorite Vekoma flyer, but I still like it. I rank it slightly ahead of Afterburn, just because of how unique it is, and in my experience, Afterburn's line has been almost as long, with higher capacity but even slower 1-train ops. But Nighthawk's slow ops is a buzzkill, while with Batwing, they were killing it. Even with 1-train ops, they were getting it out quick, keeping the line moving, never more than 15-20 minutes. But Nighthawk was 2 hours while Fury was 5 minutes. The only coasters that I think I truly dislike are Firebird, Lake Compounce's Wildcat, & the Boss at Six Flags St Louis, so those would be my suggestions. I even like Vortex at Carowinds.
I rode Nighthawk twice and I thought it was 5th best in the park (Fury, Intimidator, Copperhead Strike, and Afterburn are better). The POS next door (Vortex) though is dreadful
I think its the spot the b&ms sit on my abdomen. Feels like Im getting the wind knocked out of me the whole time. I much prefer the weight on my shoulders instead
Considering my mild disposition for Batwing’s ride experience and its ops, I can’t imagine myself liking Nighthawk. Standing 2 hrs in line for Batwing with one train running was the biggest mistake I’ve made, but I was new to the enthusiast game so cut me some slack.
i rode nighthawk for the first time yesterday and, after i finally got through the slow line, i really liked it!! it did rattle pretty much the whole time, but it was nithing painful, and if anything, might've added to the intensity, which is why i enjoyed it that much. i also got on the second-to-front row which probably helped with the roughness
This as I'm going to Carowinds in 2 months.
My first ride when I first went to Carowinds was Fury 325 in 2015
THE RATTLE 3:54
I still need to ride Batwing I have ridden this and Firehawk
Just Like FireHawk At Kings Island.
But worse
@@XscreamThrills I’ve Never Been To Carowinds. But I Think I’m Going In July.
Even though The These Types Of Models

So wait a second. You mean to tell me the “relocated” one managed to be smoother than the non relocated ones? That’s a first
It was butter smooth but yeah, strange
Batwing is the only one that hasn't been relocated. So now with Firehawk gone, Nighthawk is the only relocated one. So that statement is now false.
i love night hawk and always will. for me the reason i will always love it was because it was the first coaster i ever rode. i rode it the very first season it was open when it way called the borg asimalator when it was green. while it may be past its time and prob going to be replaced soon it could be a great addition to smaller or independent family owned park

@Arrow Dynamics Inc. quite meh
The laying down position is a bit weird

Intimidator destroys my eyes every sunny day
@@UpstopThrills Yeah at least you can look down at the ground on intimidator and fury though
My Father took me last year, and he is really tall and has long arms. He got some water on his hand. He laughed though.
Though he didn’t TOUCH it it went up and got us wet. His hand got very wet though.

The loading and uploading sucks but the coaster is awesome. One of the most thrilling and unique.
This should be a good series! I can't wait until you savage Vekoma SLC's in general .... well except for Great Nor'Easter at Morey's Piers!
Lol coming soon!
worst part about the ride is sitting on the brake run with your stomach in your throat hoping ops don't stack too long
Bleh I really wish this was smooth like Firehawk
i am a lifelong fan of nighthawk. screw those people who hate it

I really want Vortex to go away
Nighthawk isn't that bad to me, but I wouldn't be mad if they replace it with something else. It's nowhere as bad as Vortex though.
vortex is a short rough ride not worth waiting not fast either boring and uncomfortable not worth it
Nighthawk isn’t bad tbh, only thing that sucks is the line

Unpopular opinion: Carolina Cyclone is way better than Nighthawk
nighthawk would be good if it had good capacity

i disagree 100 percent. I love nighthawk
So you're in the first group of people I mentioned then lol

Batwing is far superior to Nighthawk
It would be if they added a water feature and some landscaping.

Dont even look at the ride
