King Namjoon! He's been doing music for almost 20 years. He started off doing poetry before he became an underground rapper, and eventually leader of BTS. He's from South Korean and can rap in multiple languages. Mostly blending Korean, Japanese and English. He's one of the best lyricists not only because of the knowledge he possess, but he's able to blend the languages while also adding in puns and depth. I just love how they both make their stand that no matter what they're both going to do what they want to and at the same time will continue to make money the from their art and nothing and no one will stop them no matter how much they try. As a group, they play to each other’s strengths and complement one another really well. For most promoted tracks there is a music video, a performance video, “making of” videos, a dance practice showing the entire choreography, and live performances at various shows & concerts so it’s easy to see just how hard they work and why they have become so good at what they do. Many of their songs have such deep and/or complex lyrics that fans put together “explanation” videos to share relevant cultural context necessary to understand the song. NEVA play as in as in British slay for Never. Never Play eg we don't play around/mess around. etc etc. Megan had to sue her company twice so she could be featured on remix of 'Butter' by BTS and so she could have R.M. feature on her Neva Play. Happy 6th birthday to your daughter! 🥳 RM was born and raised in South Korea, but he picks up languages very quickly, and he spent a few year studying abroad in New Zealand. So his English is fluent (except for slang words and stuff). I’m really grateful to Megan for being friends with RM and the rest of BTS and for working with them. It was really hard for them when they first broke into the American music market in 2018 because they did not have many friends in the industry and many people looked down on them for being Asian or for being Kpop idols. The fact that Megan has worked with them on the Butter remix and now Neva Play hopefully means that she and BTS are good friends and have mutual respect for each other as artists. 🥹

RM taught himself English, and that was partly from listening to American hip hop so I guess he picked up some intonations, but honestly that's just how his voice sounds, though his diction is clearer in Korean. Also BTS actually helped Meg to get her independence! They met and performed together for a previous collab, and that was the song which kicked off the fight with her label. BTS let her borrow their legal team to win the case, and I think they stayed friends since then.
The correct lyrics haven't been released in streaming platforms yet, but ppl have been trying to decypher all the lines in the song. IMO RM's verse is abt how megan was prevented by her label at the time 1501 from releasing her remix of BTS's song butter that spent 9 weeks at #1 on the hot 100 bc according to them "it wouldn't have been beneficial for her career", then they said they would let her release it if they got paid 100k and megan got nothing, the court sided with megan and she was able to release her remix and make money from it, which brought the song back to #1. Megan is now under rocnation. There is and has always been a lot of pushback by the american music industry on all levels when it comes to BTS success bc BTS are not signed to any american label and so no american label makes money from their success and they actually lose money when BTS beat american artists on charts and awards. and have always been hip hop and r&b. they added pop, rock, jazz, blues, soul, funk, other subgenres of hip hop, edm, house, disco, etc i cant name every genre ill write for days. but if anyone wants to narrow it down to some box its hip hop mainly and r&b. think nelly and kelly dilemma rapper has the verses, singer has the chorus/hook/bridge sometimes they mix it up etc reverse it have less members on the song so like 2 rappers 2 singers or songs with just the rappers or just the singers etc but you can see bts as similar structure to the classic hip hop r&b collabs from the 90s, 2000s, 2010s. see the bts rappers as the rappers in those songs and see the singers as the female singers or you get the reverse of like alicia keys ft drake unthinkable. the singers would take the lead of the song and the rapper would get some parts. now apply the honest, authentic and vulnerable aspect of hip hop and writing your own lyrics, lyrics that mean something to you and you write to make a impact on the listeners like for social change or mental health awareness etc. bts does all of that too. now apply that to all genres. most pop stars either dont write their lyrics or the lyrics arent deep or vulnerable unless about a romantic relationship and its usually predictable. obv theres cases where thats not true but a large amount is. but every genre bts does they apply the core of hip hop to every song. the rappers rap on any kind of beat. sorry for yapping but i really think youll love bts if you dig deeper than the surface. bts never been a boyband a kpop group or a pop group. the kpop label was placed on them for a few similarities they have with kpop groups. but their success and global fandom is due to NOT being like kpop groups, not being like boybands and pop artists. being themselves vulnerable real and raw in their music and when they just tweet or talk to us on live stream. all the stuff you probably heard about the kpop industry is either lies, exaggerated or RM was born and raised in South Korea, but he picks up languages very quickly, and he spent a few year studying abroad in New Zealand. So his English is fluent (except for slang words and stuff). I’m really grateful to Megan for being friends with RM and the rest of BTS and for working with them. It was really hard for them when they first broke into the American music market in 2018 because they did not have many friends in the industry and many people looked down on them for being Asian or for being Kpop idols. The fact that Megan has worked with them on the Butter remix and now Neva Play hopefully means that she and BTS are good friends and have mutual respect for each other as artists. 🥹

RM taught himself English, and that was partly from listening to American hip hop so I guess he picked up some intonations, but honestly that's just how his voice sounds, though his diction is clearer in Korean. Also BTS actually helped Meg to get her independence! They met and performed together for a previous collab, and that was the song which kicked off the fight with her label. BTS let her borrow their legal team to win the case, and I think they stayed friends since then.
The correct lyrics haven't been released in streaming platforms yet, but ppl have been trying to decypher all the lines in the song. IMO RM's verse is abt how megan was prevented by her label at the time 1501 from releasing her remix of BTS's song butter that spent 9 weeks at #1 on the hot 100 bc according to them "it wouldn't have been beneficial for her career", then they said they would let her release it if they got paid 100k and megan got nothing, the court sided with megan and she was able to release her remix and make money from it, which brought the song back to #1. Megan is now under rocnation. There is and has always been a lot of pushback by the american music industry on all levels when it comes to BTS success bc BTS are not signed to any american label and so no american label makes money from their success and they actually lose money when BTS beat american artists on charts and awards.

we as americans know our media is effed up but we really dont see how deep until we find a subject be it history, bipoc achievements/creations, just learning anything that we believed majority of our lifetimes due to a random convo, a random day of researching a random topic or someone telling you and youre like nah no way they went THAT far to lie on something to the point its completely wrong and not even in the same wavelength of what they led you to believe.
bts is one of those cases and i can bet most artists who dont have english as their first language and either come from another country and/or sing/rap etc in a language other than english would 100% be effected by that. but many take what media says and dont look farther which is such a shame.
yall are new but im about to tell you something and youre gonna think im lying. had bts made music in full english and had english as their first language and lived in the states theyd be some of the top producers, rappers, singers in the states. (well they/are/ already but theres a level of invisibility because if the media and industry blackballed you from a image and placed you in a box people wont consider you that level of success regardless of your numbers and global sold out stadiums even in the u.s, uk, france etc)
for example Wale said if rm spend time in the states hed be one of the biggest producers and all the artists would be requesting him to producer their songs/collab lyrically.

the singers can fill the pop boy and r&b boy spots people keep saying theres not many in the new generations having the success of like usher, ne-yo, justin bieber, justin timberlake etc the bts singers all fit that crave but people do not see them as candidates.
i get the overlook of the rappers because who hears dynamite and thinks they rap rap. but they dont even give the singers of the group a consideration and idk it feels off. then i looked into why out side of being a fan and its cause of all the BS media feeds people about them.
bts do all genres they never were a pop group if you wanna really put them in a genre box their roots are and have always been hip hop and r&b. they added pop, rock, jazz, blues, soul, funk, other subgenres of hip hop, edm, house, disco, etc i cant name every genre ill write for days. but if anyone wants to narrow it down to some box its hip hop mainly and r&b.
think nelly and kelly dilemma rapper has the verses, singer has the chorus/hook/bridge sometimes they mix it up etc reverse it have less members on the song so like 2 rappers 2 singers or songs with just the rappers or just the singers etc but you can see bts as similar structure to the classic hip hop r&b collabs from the 90s, 2000s, 2010s. see the bts rappers as the rappers in those songs and see the singers as the female singers or you get the reverse of like alicia keys ft drake unthinkable. the singers would take the lead of the song and the rapper would get some parts. now apply the honest, authentic and vulnerable aspect of hip hop and writing your own lyrics, lyrics that mean something to you and you write to make a impact on the listeners like for social change or mental health awareness etc. bts does all of that too. now apply that to all genres. most pop stars either dont write their lyrics or the lyrics arent deep or vulnerable unless about a romantic relationship and its usually predictable. obv theres cases where thats not true but a large amount is. but every genre bts does they apply the core of hip hop to every song. the rappers rap on any kind of beat.
sorry for yapping but i really think youll love bts if you dig deeper than the surface. bts never been a boyband a kpop group or a pop group. the kpop label was placed on them for a few similarities they have with kpop groups. but their success and global fandom is due to NOT being like kpop groups, not being like boybands and pop artists. being themselves vulnerable real and raw in their music and when they just tweet or talk to us on live stream. all the stuff you probably heard about the kpop industry is either lies, exaggerated or applies to certain labels or happened in specific cases and is not happening to the thousands of kpop groups debuting every year. and especially not to bts. bts got success without asking for a seat at the table in korea and globally so media and industry block them and their true selves. painting them as these cutesy boyband members while almost every member has a song cursing they all got tats they all drink and smoke and they all call out corruption in their country. of course they play into a bit but this can either be this or that doesnt apply to bts. bts can release dynamite and a song with megan and their image shouldnt be one or the other they should be allowed and spoken about in media as such to be and do both. theyre not "theyve always been disney and are breaking out of that now like miley" and they never been "they were all raunchy and raw and real before but they sold out and are all disney" both of those takes are wrong. they always had kid friendly songs and they always were and are real and raw they can have both types of songs on the same album back to back. truth is those in power globally see bts and want to minimize them as much as possible because bts got people from all over the world to come together on a very very similar level of course theres infighting there will be the misunderstandings and the micro aggressions and the racism and homophobia and islamophobia and every other phobia and ism. but for the most part army gets so close to the point of what a truly world peace type of situation can look like. theres millions of people globally riding for 7 korean men because of their realness. not cause theyre some cute guys or hot guys they are but even if they did a daft punk and we never saw them on heard them or read them like only hearing their voices and seeing them type online theyd still have this same success so many have become fans before ever seeing photos, music videos, or live performances and just listening on spotify or apple music. the streams match on youtube and on spotify so its not like ppl watch just for their faces. anyways ill stop now if you have any questions please ask need me to elaborate on anything please ask and thank you for reading this book if you do :)
