I would hate to survive a crash only to die from inhaling ammonia. Hopefully that didnt happen here.
Whoops!
My deepest sympathy. 😢
Thank you, "Lester Holt." 🌹
How did the 5 people die? From the accident or from inhalation of NH3?
The latter
@@dh5380Thanks. Wow! That was some spill. Tragic.
Inhalation
At least 32 years men and 2 kids died because of inhalation
2 of the people involved in the crash died and the Bryan family with a 37 year old male, his 7 year old daughter, and his 10 year old son lived nearby and passed by inhaling the gas
Why is it even legal to transport such a deadly substance when crashes like this can occur?
How do you plan on driving to work? Powering your lights? Ordering delivery? Gasoline is the least worrisome of the many chemicals driving down the roads
Money is more important than people’s lives , if they have too many safety protocols it will eventually effect corporate profits. CEOs care about European vacations and Yachts not middle class people.
@@Thunderstick-y8h True. Of course Communist Party leaders just “disappear you” in the middle of the night if you so much as speak up like you’re doing now
You you would be shocked by what is transported on our roads.
@Glorymole-pv2gt Hate to tell you but I work in a plant that uses anhydrous ammonia and even worse things like germane and arsene. And if you think they cut corners on training or safety you're out of your mind.
Tragic at all levels. A loaded tank truck, just like a loaded supertanker, cannot stop or turn "on a dime." It is better in many instances to maintain course and speed even if it means there might be collateral damage or injury. Whether swerving to avoid a deer or a disabled auto, there are consequences that must be considered..often in seconds. My prayers go out to all involved.
Rip God be with you all.
Anyone who lives here knows they just spray this stuff into the fields. Every spring you have to watch out for any ammonia spraying because the farmers just don't care if a cloud of it disrupts traffic. They used to care but they don't anymore. Its extremely dangerous if you're on a motorcycle and you can't shut off your air supply.
What I'm saying is: the amount of ammonia released in this crash is absolutely nothing compared to the amount of ammonia intentionally released next to highways and rural roads.
that must be ammonium nitrate, not ammonia
@@zarzavattzarzavatt9309 No. Its anhydrous ammonia. Ammonium nitrate doesn't have a smell. Its technically injected into the ground a few inches but it depends on how dry the soil is as to whether it stays there or not.
This leak killed 5 people including 2 children.
@@radioactiverogue3123 I have no idea why you felt it necessary to leave that comment.
You just never know.
I thought communities all had plans to handle chemical spill emergencies. Why do they need time to "figure out" what to do to stop and mitigate the problem?
They don't have the expertise or equipment to detect the Location of the leak and how to plug it. One thing to have a plan, another to have the personnel and tech to get it done. They were probably told the expert will be there by tomorrow am, caught in some flight delays.
I was there. Literally traumatized.
This is horrible. May all others, people, animals, and mother nature be protected!!!
slow down. value life. get your priorities in order. complete the delivery.
So basically that whole area is filled with Amonia just like what caused the crash and the tanker will continue to leak until it empties. They have no specialized spectrum vision goggles or camera to see where the leak is coming from, and not enough hazard gear to wear within the vicinity of it to plug the leak or hook up to offload the remaining gas.
Maybe this isn't a Great way to transport chemicals and gases, but what are the options?
it needs to be transported, no way around that, but maybe in smaller loads in better reinforced tanks, so that a simple rollover doesn't release a cloud of death.
Other way of transportation via rails. Chemtrec is gonna have field day n night with this one.
Gasoline to your filling station 10000 gallons a load be extra crispy, give trucks freakn room.
As a person who lives in the area and works in this town, I can say they did everything right. I also know the man who passed away, so have some respect!
so why do they allow tankers to haul 7500 gallons of the stuff on public highways? idk what its like out there, but in NJ i can tell you the roads are lawless. just the other day i saw a car driving dangerously INFRONT of the a state trooper, didn't care. you can haul enough chems to wipe out a town but I can't have a can of break clean because "too many VOCS", whole system is a joke.
gasoline is more dangerous but they transport that in the same tankers. whats your point. NJ also has useless regulations on ammonia as a refrigerant
GOD BE WITH THE FAMILY'S AND FRIENDS IN THERE HOURS AND TIME OF NEED IN JESUS NAME AMEN 🙏🏾🙏🙏🏾🙏💯👍👍😞😞❤️
Have a safely plan people love you all. OMG. ♥ ♥ felt. Thanks E M T.
Don't drink and drive a semi truck.
A bee in the cab can be really bad.
tanker drivers are one of the better drivers out there but these days they just give anyone a CDL.
Kind of like don't drive beside a truck or passing lane to exit
The truck driver was not drunk. It’s was cars fault who cut the driver off and police are now looking for that car driver….Rather then blaming the trucker and assuming he’s at fault, maybe police your own 4 wheeler community on how to drive as most of these accidents involving a tractor trailer are caused by the driver of a car
Thank God it happened in a small town!
Rip
I wonder if there is a way to politicize this 🤔
Corrupt democrat policies for 60+ years have left Illinois roads in disrepair and unsafe to travel. Illinois had a chance under REPUBLICAN Rauner but not one democrat wanted to tighten their pork stuffed budgets so y'all voted Rauner out and this is whatya get
Really? That’s your first thought?
What do you mean? What is your purpose?
Yeah? what conspiracy do you want to make up to distract from the real tragedy and work being done to fix it?
Record army answer
Sounds about normal
Who cares he wont have any bail? Even if he was so drunk he couldnt walk or even if he did it on pourpose
