    I don't recall that the electrode is actually copper on copper electrodes. The conductor inside the spark plug is copper but the electrode is not. I have filed those and never found copper in any spark plug. They haven't used copper for the electrodes of spark plugs since at least the 1950s probably the 1930s because it would only last about 5 or 6,000 miles. If that.

      Its a copper/nickel alloy. They just call it copper for short. You are correct about solid copper electrodes not being used for about 100 years as they only lasted a few hundred miles

    All those plugs have copper cores.
    They would be better refered to as nickel, platinum and iridium.
    But for some reason people are stuck on calling nickel electrode plugs "copper"

    I have a 2014 Town and Country Van. I changed the spark plugs and coils on my van. Engine still shakes when started. I wonder what it could be. Falty plugs and coils?

    Heat ranges are flat out confusing when swapping over brands. Most, the lower the number, the hotter it is - except for Bosch and Accel [to pick two I know of], which adhere to the opposite. Champion? Bring a decoder ring, cause I can't explain their method - some sort of hybrid nuance happening there. Denso seems to have the most coherent scaling, but some would rather not have so many numbers to choose from and live in a 1-10 world.

      You may check with an Auto Parts store in your area. They can give you 2 or 3 options that are best for your vehicle.

    I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis N/A 5.0 I am looking for a good performance plug Its pretty much stock I have a sprint booster, exaust and ram air snorkels I'm gonna get a tune soon and would like to change the plugs before then any suggestions?

    Are non resistor plugs good to use?

      In a Model A Ford maybe😉 but seriously, they can play havoc with sensitive modern vehicle electronics due to the RFI they can generate (I use them in my old kickstart chop with points ignition and copper-core wires, without them she's a bear to start)

    can i use platinum or iridium plugs on a 1970 318 engine with pertronix ignition or do i have to use copper plugs for the 50 year old engine or is it safe to use the plat or irid plugs

      You can use platinum or iridium plugs I've used those in a 351 Cleveland and 302 and these were older Motors like your 318 iridium plugs last a long time in those old Motors

    ??? u said iridium has a lower resistance than copper?? thats not true, copper has a lower resistance And higher conductance

      You are right ( about the resistance ) but the electrical resistance doesn’t matter so much with such a high voltages and small currents as in the secondary side of ignition system. Dew to its much higher melting point iridium allows much thinner central electrode . For example on Denso Iridium TT it’s only 0.4mm in diameter when on the regular nickel ( copper core ) electrodes plugs the diameter is 2-2.5 mm . The sharp central electrode concentrate the electric field and the spark jumps the gap when the voltage across the gap is 3-5kiloVolts lower than on the thick electrodes plugs . Also inside of all modern spark plug is added 2-5KOhm resistor and the secondary winding of the ignition coil has the same resistance so the difference in the resistance of nickel plated copper electrode compared to iridium tip nickel plated copper core electrode of few miliOhms is negligible.

    Man I need help, I don't know what's wrong with my bike! I'm running out of money and patience.
    Bought it from someone who said there was nothing wrong with it, but it hasn't worked since the day I got it.
    Had it for almost 2 years now and sometimes (but rarely) it works pretty much like it should and suddenly just stops working again.
    I finally changed the regulator and it worked perfect!! for 15 minutes... Now it'll barley start and just stalls..
    The spark plug is completely black and dry. And idk how to fix whatever is turning it black. Bike doesn't have a carburetor, so if it's running rich I don't know how to fix it. And if I need a new spark plug I don't know which one to buy.
    Someone please help me!!!

      Owner's manual tells you which plugs to buy. Try cleaning your injectors.

    Go watch Richard Holdener he's videos he tests a bunch of stuff on spark plugs and no power different you can check out engine masters they did a video on different plugs and same thing

    How is copper(nickel alloy) the most common plug in 2022🤔. Why is the term copper plug still being used, all spark plugs mostly have copper cores
    Nickel alloy is the conventional spark plug. Some of this info sound suspect. What is pre detonation🤔. Never heard of that.

    As soon as I hear the term pre detonation I can no longer respect the information given. You cannot mix up 2 types of abnormal combustion and combine them when discussing such a technical subject. There's pre ignition and detonation..
    pre detonation doesn't exist.

    LOL!!! No one is using the same spark plugs for 150,000 kilometers !!!
    Get real !! Most will fail between and will be replaced around 15-45,000km
