Every night for the last two weeks I have been watching a episode of scrabble!! This was one of my favorite game shows to watch growing up!! It came on during The Price is Right so I can remember always flipping back and forth between the two shows!!
I used to always laugh when a contestant got a stopper and my folks would be like “you think it’s funny?” I’d keep laughing until it got to the point where my poor mom would be like enough already!!! No more!!
Way better than “Scrabble Showdown” with Justin Willman on the Hub/Discovery Family. “Scrabble Showdown” ran for two seasons, because of the MLP phenomenon.
Chuck Woolery hosted the Big Spin in 1985, at this point in 1989, the show was hosted by Geoff Edwards. Alzalee's Big Spin appearance was on 6/24/1989 and she won $20,000, as per a web search to an LA Times article. Scrabble moved to 10AM EST on 3/27/89, and it was airing at 10AM by this point as the NBC News At THis Hour update is at the beginning of this video.
@@adamsteinhart1504 Alzalee won $20K on the California Lottery Big Spin, which in 1985 was hosted by Chuck Woolery but at this time was hosted by Geoff Edwards. She also played in the audience game on Joker's Wild in the 1982-83, but didn't win the qualifying spin
Nobody has mentioned this, but ever notice that sometimes the two tiles that were picked would spell two letter words? Examples: IT IN IS PU UP AT AN. Wonder if FU ever came up?
Love this show. Chuck had a flub where he said 2 words in under 5 seconds. I am assuming if Eric hadn't gotten lacquer that standards & practices may have had to give him the money anyways.
@"shreknhavoc", yes, back in year 1989, this "Scrabble" game show had Mr. Charles "Chuck" H. Woolery as its previous host just as his former announcer there was late Mr. Arthur W. Ferguson [though professionally known as "Charlie Tuna"]!
Miss you, Dad.
Chuck Woolery also host love connection
I was so happy to see this awesome game show back on the USA channel around the early mid 90's!

Almost always fun to see somebody on more than one game show. Cheers.
What U Talkin Bout, Willis?
@@shutterbug_713 He uploaded video of himself on more than one show.
Now I see, @@TheEggplantThatAteChicago. ☺
Man. The good old days. Sad how bad things have deteriorated
We went from three hours of game shows to seven hours of news.
I remember this game show and the host.
Thank you so much for uploading!
Omg can they please bring this game show back
Who will be the host if they bring this game show back?
I’d do it
I don't know who could host it, but I bet Rich Fields could be the announcer.
@@samsticka I could still see Chuck hosting this.
Agree
I didn't know that Chuck Woolery was in a movie in '78.
It's nice to see a fellow Olympian doing well. Great solves in your Crossword round.
IT'S OFFICIAL I'M STILL HOOKED ON THIS GAME SHOW AND 1989!!💗🤗💗🤗💗🤗
me looking for the skip ad button for 1989 ads

“Another word for abreast” threw people off. Then the pastor says “some kids got together and rolled it” 🤣
ALL clues throw everybody off and don't always make sense.
love seeing the old commercials i was 13 when these were on tv
Man, the Chuck bucks were flying in the first game.
"Some kids got together and rolled it?" HEYO, ERIC lol
Phenomenal guess on "organist"
Thanks. Was just up my alley or train of thought.
Commercials were very good 👍👍👍👍
Sherry is a good friend of mine
BEST GAME SHOW EVER!
That it was.

Big money.
NBC game show.

Alzalee was on Match Game before

That tile drop noise ASMR
Christel's hair 🤣🤣🤣. Probably hide stuff in that hair
He was good
I wonder who retired as a 5-time champion the previous episode.
4 wins?? That is pretty good for a person whos never been on tv before!
Christel looks like she’s a McDonalds manager
Hey! It's Wonder Woman!
Exactly how slow does that chair go up & down?
Wow, these new RUclips ads are really embracing the '80s TV commercial vibe!
Dang. Not too shabby. And extra $1000 on her way to play the $1m lottery spin.
4:25... "Hercules Hercules"
Do you have access to any other archived episodes from August 1989
@13:40, is that a "lift & recline" chair, OR is it a lift & INCLINE chair, since you're pivoting FORWARD?
At the same time, Chuck Woolery was also hosting The Love Game or something like that.
Love connection
Thanks

LACQUER....that word spelled LOSS right there. Whoa.
Not for Eric, Richard
How is this guy only 30?
Why wasn't there a pc or a Nintendo game based on this game show?
nope just a board game called TV Scrabble.
I’m guessing a champion was retired the previous show

To be honest, it's just another variant of Wheel of Fortune, BUT without the wheel.
What was this episodes air date?
Not sure but I think in summer 1989

Love the old commercials too!
How much you pay in taxes?
I wonder how Alzalee did on that big spin.
14:23 TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES??? WHO WOULD NAME A CITY LIKE THAT???
7:06 how come he chose to wait until the end for him to hand out money?
Probably speed
5:55 No man. No, woman.
Interesting ruling when a contestant accidently take 2 tiles instead of 1.
That happens a lot. The extra tile stays in the box in waiting, like a Monopoly spell.
Blue squares were worth $500 while pink ones were worth $1,000. They should have included red squares worth $1,500.
I think it was just easier for them to work with 2 colors instead of 4 (light blue, blue, pink and red).
@@bmhedgehog2 Maybe. I don't know.
Light blue, $500, dark blue, $1,000, pink, $1,500 and red $2,000. But that's just wishful thinking.
Was that real money Chuck would hand out if a contestant got the answer on a pink or blue square?
I wondr if Alzalee mentioned "The Big Spin" knowing that Chuck was it's original host?
