My understanding of the Chapter ✌️
The play features an old man (Mr.Lamb) and a small 14 year old boy (Derry) meeting in the formers garden. Both suffer from physical impairment. The play is an apt depiction of the loneliness and sense of alienation experienced by people on account of a disability. Mr Lamb, the old man, takes life as it comes to him, celebrating it in all its forms while the young boy Derry is very withdrawn, reclusive and defiant. The actual pain or inconvenience caused by a physical impairment is often much less than the sense of alienation felt by the person with the disabilities as they are often pitied and ridiculed by others which makes them develop a sense of inferiority. The meeting turns out to be a boon for Derry. Mr.Lamb’s optimism has an indelible imprint on Derry and is able to give him hope and the ability to see the bright and positive side of life. As responsible citizens, we must give people with disabilities due respect, and thus motivate them to feel at par with the others in society, so that they do not suffer from a sense of isolation or alienation and are able to live a normal life.

Mr lamb showed that he was not hurt but in reality he was hurt when people didn't came back to him , when children teased him and when parents didn't send their childern to meet him . He was very lonely and when he saw derry is going , he was sure derry will not return which shows there were many who diidn't returned .
