MUCH BETTER THAN THE MANUAL! Thanks so much! My drain valve on the bottom was open and it wouldn’t pressurize right out of the box. I live remote on Lake Superior and desperately needed air in my tires. Fought with it all day yesterday and finally watched your video. FIXED! I can now drive 70 miles with my little dog to her vet for care. God bless you!
I just want yo to know that I appreciate your no nonsense, no overly talking video. It helped me a lot and people could learn something from you. Good job mister !
Wow this has got to be the best video ever on air compressors . I have zero clue how to operate one of these but now i know. It was concise and simple explanation! thank you so much Chris!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU! Single mom here trying to figure out all the tools I had to buy to keep this old beloved house of mine in working order. Love this! It was perfect!
Thank you Chris for putting this together and making it available for us "less inclined" folks! :D I agree with others, this short piece was much more helpful than the instructions provided!
Seriously, man! Thanks! I just bought my first air compressor, the exact same model in this video. I’ve also bought a Craftman 21° Framing Nailer so that I can build out rooms in my basement. But after buying it and opening it up, it felt just a tad bit intimidating. Been looking around RUclips the last few days, but none was as helpful as this video. Thanks for the walkthrough. Excellent content. Now I just need to find a decent video covering the Framing Nailer before starting my basement projects. Thanks!!!
Sorry for your loss. I lost mine, too, two years ago and didn’t have instructions for some things and was feeling too sorry for myself not being so inclined to check RUclips for help.
Yes!!! A perfect video with the exact amount of knowledge and tips and not overly long!! Your amazing Chris!! Love that you answered in details the steps to drain the air in clear steps
Just picked this up and was able to remove a crank bolt on an old 78 F250 using a 1000 ft/lb Kobalt 1/2 inch impact wrench. Directions say it is not suitable for impact wrench's but just saying it definitely packs enough punch! Great buy!
Bought mine over a year ago and used once. Had completely forgotten how to set up, and this video was extremely helpful. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.
couple of points. - If you are wondering why the pressure doesn't build up to 150 psi after 5 min, REMEMBER, drain valve comes opened! It must be closed before switching on the compressor (already mentioned below). - the pipe/hose connecting the pump to the tank gets hot! Watch out not to get burnt! ....otherwise, good video. Thanks.
Thank you for making this video! I have some memory problems where I know How to do stuff but the small parts slip away sometimes (like "what does the dial on my air compressor do again") and clear, quick videos like this are a life saver for me! Thanks a bunch 😊
You just eased my mind cause i just bought an impact wrench to rotate my tires , i got a little nervous when he said this tank is not for impact wrench
Great video. I’m planning to buy one this weekend, and this will be my very first air compressor, so I’m sure that I’ll be watching your video several more times, until memorize all of the steps. Thank you.
So glad I finally looked this up. Had mine about a year and couldn't figure it out, mainly the cutout. I've used them for work before but those were already set up. This was super helpful. Thank you for the brief and useful overview!
Thanks a bunch, as a first time homeowner videos like this are saving my bacon and my bank account. Yours are so very well done, I certainly subscribed.
oh my gosh, thank you. It was all I needed. Like the person below, my drain valve was also open and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't come to pressure. Thank you so much for this to the point short video and not a long drawn out one. 😉😉
Great video Chris! Very informative. I am new to air compressors and just have 2 questions. First question: what is the reason you have to turn regulator pressure to 0 when turning on and filling up air compressor and when draining the tank? My second question is: I mainly want to buy this style of compressor for airing up tires. If I air my tires up to 35 lbs, what should I set the regulated pressure at when doing this? Thanks
Very helpful! Purchased the 3 nail gun/air compressor combo on Black Friday and just opened to nail the base boards in my laundry room. The statement regarding it not necessary to add oil has be wondering… Thanks again!
Nice video. I have one of these compressors and pleased with it for the most part. However, the drain valve is awkward. I know how important it is to drain water after each use to reduce the possibility of rust and tank failure but on this unit the user has to tilt up the compressor and then rock it to one leg and "hope" the water completely drains. Design flaw? Why didn't they place the drain valve half way between 2 of the legs? Seems like it would allow more complete water removal that way. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
This is a great point. My guess is that it was for easier access and gets the job done due to the air pressure that may remain in the tank, pushing out any fluid. But you're right... being where it is, it's not going to drain all the water like it would if it was positioned directly at the bottom like most bigger air compressors. The only other reason I can think of is because it sits so low, they put it higher up in that place so that it wouldn't get accidentally hit by something as you're putting the air compressor down.
Thank you, I am a 70 year old woman and bought this to clean out my vacuum cleaner. Was a bit nervous but your video was great! Thank you, I am sure I will be referring back to this video.
Yep... I can't recall with mine, however I'm pretty sure it comes from the factory with the drain valve open so be sure to close that up before first use!
I just received my air compressor just like the one in the video. It's my very first so I was really scared tht I didn't know how to operate it so was very pleased with ur video it was very informative and I wanna say thank you so very much 💯👍🏾
Yes please use a hose to release all of the air you can after powering it off and after moving the regulator all the way to the left. I needed to buy new underwear when I pulled the safety valve when it was full
When my husband took off for a hunting trip, I needed to fill up my car tires ~ your video taught me how to safely release the tank pressure after I was finished. A million thank you's!
Yup. The manual is virtually meaningless and you should be payed for your simply informative video which explained everything I needed to know in order to operate this air compressor correctly within two minutes. Thank you.
I was going to buy this one Chris You sold me :) Perfect size, I want it for small tools blowing up my car abs bike tires, cleaning things with air ect
I use a air hammer with mine when I need influence something that doesn't want to come loose it works you can't use it for extended time but for short burst it works great
I have the DeWALT DWFP1 Pancake compressor. The thing that I find interesting is that Stanley Black & Decker. is that they are reporting tools DeWALT over to four brands. Basically the Craftsman 6 gallon air compressors, and the Porter Cable 6 gallon air compressor, as well as the Staley 6 gallon air compressor all variants of the DeWALT DWFP1 6 gallon air compressor.
Also, people, check and make sure that the condensation drain valve is closed before you turn it on. Mine wasn't filling with air straight outta the box, new. I checked it, and bingo, it was open.
I only want one for filling air in my tires for my car, motorcycle, 4 bikes. Stupid question here. Does the tank eventually run out of air? If so, I assume u have to go get it filled up again.. How long does it take to run out? I would only use it for tires so not very often.
Ditto to all the positive comments! I bought a Ridgid pancake compressor and finally got ready to use it. The Craftsman is virtually identical. Just to be on the safe side, I read through the instructions in the manual. NOTE: You are supposed to run it on 0 pressure for 30 mins with the drain open before using for the first time!!! Check your model to see if it also requires this. A few people commented on line that it could make a difference in future functionality. So I’m sitting here trying to wait patiently while it does its thing.
Thanks for such an great video. You said all we needed to hear and nothing we didn't. Way better than the instruction manual. Great words and instruction with explanations as to "why"!!!
I got one for Christmas (3-in-1). I was really hoping I could use an impact driver on it but I'll keep it just because I have other projects I could use this tool on.
MUCH BETTER THAN THE MANUAL! Thanks so much! My drain valve on the bottom was open and it wouldn’t pressurize right out of the box. I live remote on Lake Superior and desperately needed air in my tires. Fought with it all day yesterday and finally watched your video. FIXED! This video was 100x more helpful than the handbook. Thanks👍👌
Thanks Cameron! Sorry I forgot to reply to your comment... I'm happy it helped!
agree
Agreed!
For real
Agreed. Those handbooks are downright confusing. Tons of superfluous information. RUclips to the rescue.
For those asking how long it takes for the tank pressure to build, you probably have the drain valve open so make sure the valve is closed.
Son of a .... so that’s what that hissing was
Thanks much!
The valve comes open. Same here too.
Holy.... THANK YOU 😂
Omg! Dude, THANK YOU😂😂😂
I just bought one of these, and have never used one. This is exactly what I needed. Thank You!
You are welcome! Thank you for watching!
Same! I got one a week ago and haven't fired it up yet. I'm going to go do that now. Thanks for the video
All instructions should come with a video like this.
I just want yo to know that I appreciate your no nonsense, no overly talking video. It helped me a lot and people could learn something from you. Good job mister !
Now, this video is f-ing great. Clear, concise, and to the point .
Your comment is f--ing great! Thank you 😀
Wow this has got to be the best video ever on air compressors . I have zero clue how to operate one of these but now i know. It was concise and simple explanation! thank you so much Chris!!!!!!!!!!!
As I am allergic to reading instruction manuals, this video is awesome. Thumbs up!
Me too! Took one for the team ;) Thanks for watching!!

Wow, thanks!
Thank you so much! My Dad is not here to ask anymore. Once he helped me fix the toilet over the phone. You were so concise & helpful. Thanks!
Sorry for your loss. I lost mine, too, two years ago and didn’t have instructions for some things and was feeling too sorry for myself not being so inclined to check RUclips for help.

Yep, it will air up anything, but the limit is the size of the tank... it can't take on big long tasks.
One of the most professional and well done product reviews I’ve seen on RUclips. Sub’d. 👍🏻
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. You're awesome!

Thanks for the great video! I just purchased this exact same compressor last night and this video was super helpful!
You're welcome! Happy it helped!
I used it for my new impact wrench air cat , removing lugs and nuts of my car. It is perfect, please take note that.
You just eased my mind cause i just bought an impact wrench to rotate my tires , i got a little nervous when he said this tank is not for impact wrench

You'll get the hang of it quickly! :) Thanks for the comment, Mike!
Quickly subscribing, watching this video as a first and Chris couldn’t be more concise and or clear
So glad I finally looked this up. Had mine about a year and couldn't figure it out, mainly the cutout. I've used them for work before but those were already set up. This was super helpful. Thank you for the brief and useful overview!

It’s that time of year, best refresher video.

I'm a 43 year old blue collar guy, and I'm nervous to use mine. I think it's the noise :D
Got the combo kit with 3 tools and found this video very helpful to get a quick dive in operating the tank.
Awesome! Happy it helped! Thanks for watching
Informative and funny to boot! Thank you for making this video.
Literally just took one out of the box in the living room as a Christmas present. Nice overview, thanks.
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Bam! Expert delivery!! Way to nail the set up and etc !!
Wow, thanks!
Thanks this is what I was looking for
👍 just got this compressor on sale and this video has me using it already. Thanks!
Great tutorial, to the point, nicely made and presented. Thanks!
ALSO, don't forget to check the drain valve to make sure it's closed. Mine was not and and it wasn't filling up. I'm like what the heck is going on.
Yep... I can't recall with mine, however I'm pretty sure it comes from the factory with the drain valve open so be sure to close that up before first use!
I use an impact gun for wheel lug nuts and other stuck bolts and nuts on cars. Works fine.
This particular compressor works for that?
How much use do you get out of it in between pumps?
Thanks
Stanley Black & Decker now owns Craftsman. Good stuff !
Thanks for your help with this! I almost returned the thing!
Just got the Porter Cable version of this and I'm a complete noob to compressors. Thank you for this!
2024 and this video helped me so much!
Thanks! I also couldn’t get any pressure due to drain valve is open when you receive the unit!
I just received my air compressor just like the one in the video. It's my very first so I was really scared tht I didn't know how to operate it so was very pleased with ur video it was very informative and I wanna say thank you so very much 💯👍🏾
I didn’t know how to use one when u said the safety valve I pulled it for fun and it scared the crap out of me 😂
Yeah it's loud isn't it?
Yes please use a hose to release all of the air you can after powering it off and after moving the regulator all the way to the left. I needed to buy new underwear when I pulled the safety valve when it was full
Great instructional video. Thank you.
I blame RUclips’s recommendation algorithm for not introducing me to this awesome channel sooner.
It's the worst. Thank you for the comment and for watching! More episode on the way
Google helped me find it after I typed in step by step instructions for using pancake air-compressor
When my husband took off for a hunting trip, I needed to fill up my car tires ~ your video taught me how to safely release the tank pressure after I was finished. A million thank you's!
Thanks so much for your review! You explained a lot in this short video. I feel comfortable now using it! :)
Awesome! You're so welcome!
Just purchased exact model, thanks for the vid.
Me too!!
Glad I could help!
Just bought this a few days ago as a first compressor for leaking Dakota truck tires. Glad I can run a nail gun with it also 👍

You sold me :)
Perfect size, I want it for small tools blowing up my car abs bike tires, cleaning things with air ect
Go for it! Im so happy it helped you make the decision!
If I am using this to inflate tires to say 35 pounds, does the regulator on the right have to be set to 35 PSI? TY!
This was so much better that the manual!
Best instructional video. Just got one. Thanks.
What Size hose does this Compressor require?
I found it weird that it came boxed with the manual laying on top, so this put me at ease.
Excellent presentation 👍🙏
Excellent video. I just bought this unit, and your video explains a lot of why and how.
Glad I could help, Mike! Thanks for watching and for your awesome comment!

Thank you Sir! Much appreciated.
Do you leave the drain valve open until next use?
Good video, thanks for sharing this tutorial video with us; specifically for first timers like myself. Very helpful tips indeed!

Yes
@@chris thank you!

Fabulous video!! They ought to hire you!! 🎊🎉‼️‼️‼️
Great job! Very helpful
