    "Warning this show is a bit of a downer" EXCUSE ME? I went into this show freaking depressed out of my mind and came out of it thinking; "Huh, yeah, if everything goes to shit it's actually a good thing because I lose nothing in that situation!"
    Also, in leu of knowing what the NLSS is joking about before Jackbox when talking about their "favorite wikipedia article" I choose to believe they're talking about Rocky Mountain Oysters.
    I'm going to spoil my fellow Coloradan's fun, and tell you; It is a hazing for tourists, they are not a delicacy, they're legit to serve to people and then tell them what they're eating.

    Tons of people are saying "oh just skip this one, I don't come here for political opinions I come here for cheap laughs, so tell a joke funnyman", but honestly I appreciate these guys talking about this stuff so seriously. Yeah, I like this too. We live in a crazy time, it's only natural for the NLSS gang to talk about what's going on.
      I don't want every episode to be a discussion on the "real world", but they live in the "real world" just like us. Talking about important things on occasion is a reminder we fight the same fight.

    • @rhythmicshooter318

      That's what great about the NLSS. They're a good mix of reality and absurdity. Sure, the discussion today was saddening, but it's understandable. It's definitely affecting them, so the show can be a good outlet for them to discuss with friends.
      What's more, it's not like they stayed sad and cynical. Which is also a high point for them. They don't let the whole show be a downer. It's a roller coaster ride like usual.

      its a lot worse than a flu. 3 percent morality rate w treatment is in a different league and because it is so contagious we are likely not going to be able to accomodate many people who get treatable infections alongside it.
      I mean imagine how pissed you would be when you died from a bacterial infection like people dod back before medicine because you couldnt get treated. Thats only a few steps away from nl's nightmare of almost dying and then the doctor runs in saying they just found the cure to dying right before he died

    • @xJamanz
      @xJamanz 4 года назад +6

      @@NewSorpigal1 It's a newish virus, and they can't make vaccines for everything for when they get bad. Also, its way worse than the flu. Not only is it anywhere from 10-50x more lethal than the flu, but death rate isn't everything. Reports are coming in that it also can permanently damage breathing ability by up to 30%. Plus the symptoms itself are much more painful and if it is more contagious than the flu than it can cripple work forces.
      Governments wouldn't shut down and markets wouldn't collapse just cause of some over panic. There are reasons they do that and that's because this disease is deadly serious.

    • @Spaced92
      @Spaced92 4 года назад +4

      @@xJamanz Well, governments do shutdown and markets collapse over panic all the time. That's kinda misleading it's the only reason they tend to shutdown. This virus should be taken seriously because we don't want to spread it to people with pre existing health conditions and the elderly, what is extremely unnecessary is the apocalyptic level of panic leading people to horde toilet paper and the overall depression some people that are prone to dramatics tend to have about the issue. The lethality for the elderly is only because we don't have the vaccine yet and no one has built up any immunity. Masks stop spreading but don't stop you picking it up, just wash your hands because that's all you can do.

    • @djackson4605
      @djackson4605 4 года назад +8

      Exactly. In this episode he says washing your hands doesn't help, that's just false. Soap kills this virus. Rob says it 100% certain, but is 100% wrong. His ability to be ignorant with almost smugness is baffling sometimes, and rarely is it for the joke. He's usually being serious when he's spouting off nonsense he believes, not flipping it into a bit or anything.

      The 2008 crash was sparked by a financial bubble rather than factors outwith market (and individual) control. This has the potential to be so much more significant because, essentially, the same measures of financial exploitation to rectify the upset course of the world economy will be exerted but people will also have a really bad flu and an inability to access healthcare. On top of that the destruction of social safety nets since 2008 hasn't actually been rectified. There's nothing really left to be gutted to tighten the belt. I am not saying it will be worse, but to dismiss this as nothing more than a bump is extremely naive.

      @@WateringCan I think its an over reaction to compare it to 2008 or really any other financial crisis since the 80's if you live in most western countries. That was a financial bubble that affected the world, but was primarily due to the US housing crisis. Countries outside the US did not suffer as badly as the US did and could recover a bit faster as they didn't have to deal with the core issues. This crisis really hurts Russia/every other oil based economy (essentially OPEC) and China more than the US since the core issues lay with these countries.
      It is stupid to say this is not a crash though. The DOW bottomed out at 2/3'rds its total value and is suffering from massive volatility as people attempt to get ahead and sell/buy/sell/buy...you get what I mean. We could still see an even further bottom out, regardless this volatility is not sustainable and the market will level out eventually at a lower value. This is actually a good thing since I believe most companies were heavily overvalued due to the 11 year bull economy and we will see a more reasonable valuation from investors when the market levels out. This will also take out many large inefficient companies and, in my endless optimism that we don't bail them out this time, hopefully open the field up for smaller more efficient businesses to enter the stage (something that we should have let play out in 2008, but that's just me).
      TL/DR: The US/most diversified (economics wise) western nations are seeing the effects of the ripples of crisis's from other countries (china and oil economies), but are not in the splash zone itself and have a better shot at digging their way out of the hole.

      @@squeedles_1943 No problem, I see a lot of doom and gloom or people in denial. I just wanted to present a more reasonable reality of the situation.
      However these reactions are not unexpected. There is a whole new generation of people who have never had to work in a black swan economy and only experienced the 08 crash as a child, which greatly warps their view on economic recessions.
      Either they were not directly affected (ie parents did not lose their job) and see them as no big deal, or were greatly affected (parents lost their job) and see it as the end of the world. Not saying this is the case for everyone and there are many more factors at play with how people react to recessions, but it is a factor.
      Things will be tough for the next 18 months, but the brunt will be experienced by China and Oil nations. Frankly, while it is terrible for the people of said nations, I hope they learn from this and force through a diversified economy through whatever means they can.
