I feel in love with this suite some 28 years ago while I was reading Virgil Aenead. The stormy music rise toward the middle of the suite always reminded me with the tensions and sorrows of the night of the fall of Troy followed by the calm mournful Aeneas journey through the sea.
Thank you for posting this excellent suite from this very beautiful opera. I was fortunate to have seen the revival that the Metropolitan Opera did for Joan Sutherland, and it was gorgeous.
Max Merry -- You emerge from this experience...which at times galvanizes...and at times swaddles....with a rich appreciation of both Massenet AND Berlioz!

All four pieces are exquisite but Hymenee is particularly beautiful.
