I don't understand why this genre is so low energy. Look at Arcanist, you can have energy and still capture the fantasy/ambient aesthetic. This just makes me want to curl up into a ball and cry. No album with a cover as cool as this should be so damn soft.
There's a certain aggression missing from a lot of dungeon synth these days. A lot of soft, "comfy" fantasy synth that's diverged hugely from the "dark dungeon music" the genre is rooted in but still gets lumped under the DS label (this channel is 80% fantasy synth, not really "dungeon" imo). If you want some good modern DS with aggression or energy, check out Elffor or Lord Bakartia (the latter especially has a more black metal tinge, like a lot of old school DS has).
