Who Is a Contributor on the FAFSA® Form?

- A contributor is anyone required to provide information, a signature, and consent and approval to have their federal tax information transferred directly into the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. This may include the student, the student’s spouse, a biological or adoptive parent, or a stepparent. Contributors are not financially responsible for the student’s education.
By providing consent and approval, a contributor’s federal tax information will be used to determine the student’s eligibility for federal student aid.
