Man, Travolta really could pull off a convincing tough guy. There are plenty of actors who can't e.g. Pierce Brosnan, Clive Owen. I wonder what kind of real life experience Travolta drew upon to be so badass.
That IS realism. Try it. If it's over in a hurry like that no one cares. People hardly look up, probably thought he slipped. No shouting, no noise, no one asking for help.
@@taxpayer6079 She has good bones, she is a classic beauty. There is nothing about any part of her that is manly. I think that 99% of people, men and women, would agree. Google Rene Russo nude, she has all the right parts.
Characters are everything. Here's the test: write the dialogue in this scene down. It's OK but it's nothing more than a conversation. But put it in the mouths of these characters played by these actors and you have magic. That's casting and acting right there.
1:16.....the swagger walking up those stairs to the music. He was smooth hahah!!
"You know what I feel like doing?"
I would not have been surprised if they played "Stayin' Alive" when he was walking up the stairs.

naaaaah, he was coooool, in fact chili.
What makes Get Shorty a terrific movie, among other things, is that the actors had a blast making it.
The real question is how come they made a sequel that looked more like an exploitation film?
Fun Fact: John Travolta and James Gandolfini actually go way back. Both Jersey natives, Travolta’s dad use to sell tires to Gandolfini’s dad.
And if you go far enough both forefathers were centurions in Julius Cesar army…
Fought against the brits. 😏
They should have made more movies together.
The Brit's or the stuntman?
"That guy's a stuntman..."
That line exemplifies what makes this movie great.
I think he says "That guy has a stuntman"
Fun fact: when he became boss of the family, he remembered the old nut-grab technique and used it on the Russian guy on the yacht
Nice one! 😂
"Nut grabbing"😅
Haha. "Got a problem besides those pants?"
Rene Russo. What a fox. Very underrated

She is drop dead gorgeous.

Rene Russo is drop dead gorgeous.
If anyone doubts Tarvolta is a great actor with charm and charisma should watch this movie!
Who ever doubted that?
Maybe you could spell his name correctly? 😂😂😂 The first syllable is T-r-a not T-a-r.
... Travolta*
Why would anyone doubt that?
I completely forgot Tony was in this movie!!
Always fun discovering an actor’s early work.
1:18 -- He walks with the same swagger that Tony Manero had in "Saturday Night Fever."
he must've watched the movie and liked what he saw! :)
Tony Soprano on an early job
Yup. R.I.P. to James G.
Such a well made film, pretty much flawless.
The irony of bringing in a stuntman to stand in for the stuntman.
Travolta should have guest-starred on the Sopranos.
His Scientology bosses probably wouldn’t let him
Glad Gene Hackman is still alive
I love the relationship between Chili and Bear! Mutual respect and appreciation.
Love how he walks those steps.
Yeah, there's a kind of bounce to his walk, and in perfect rhythm with the music.
Travolta has never been cooler than in this film.
One of my most favorite movies ever.

Two tough guys acting as wimps. Greatness
When Tony Soprano was young he had to have side jobs to earn some extra bucks.
The Soprano family was never any match against the Barbarino family in Brooklyn.
He never had the makings of a varsity stuntman.
I saw this film years ago but don’t remember much of it. But now looking at the amazing cast I think i desperately need to revisit this film!!

Watch him fight Christian Slater in Broken Arrow. Travolta looks natural, Slater looks ridiculous. It's even worse when they fix it for Slater

Chili was correct. It WAS Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford. And the movie they are talking about is “Gilda”.

A fabulous movie .
Hackman can’t fake a smoker

Brosnan can, sometimes. He's hit and miss. A miss as Bond.
they needed a stuntman for a guy playing a stuntman. lol

He lost although he had the high ground. Strange...
