Thanks for sharing this. 1st thought that comes to mind is do I really want to hold an inverter that close to the core of my body for any extended period of time .. before someone thinks Im crazy, consider that folks with pacemakers are told to go nowhere near welding machines. 2nd thought is, why hold all that weight in hand when for around the same price I can get a cheap stick box inverter with traditional electrode holder thats much lighter. Ive seen people take a lithium ion polymer pack from a car jump starter and use it to stick weld. Could probly have a dual purpose emergency welder/jump starter with a little know how. It was a radio tower tech who had to climb up and down those tall towers to make repair welds that were tiny but impossible to bring a welder up the tower for. So tiny light lithium pack with the clamps it came with and he had the perfect stick welder and no longer had to make those extra trips and hoist things up and down. Plus no need for a generator or inverter

You put a provided small plastic rod on it and with the supplied plastic build project, it spun fast enough to melt the plastics together...but barely. If I recall correctly, using modeling glue worked better.

I bought one of these from Amazon.
The amperage is all over the place causing a very splattery and uneven weld.
After 4 rods the damn thing caught on fire,,1/16th rod on no3,, luckily my garage fuse blew but I threw it out of the door still belching black smoke.
I gave them the benefit of doubt just in case this was just a faulty unit.
After 3 weeks the replacement came.
This one lasted a bit longer, it welded poorly for almost 2 hours using up 9x 1/16th rods on no 3 setting.
This time my mains fuses started to blow instantly every time the damn thing was plugged in.
No fire no smoke but the welder was dead shorted between positive and negative.
Do not buy one of these Chinese welders, they don't work plus they are dangerous.
I opened up the second unit, the plug was earthed, but the earth wire inside the machine was not connected to anything, no fuses were found inside the machine, the copper coil had melted causing the dead short.
These are an electricution with possible death waiting to happen.
