I have really enjoyed working on the engine and have been impressed with the engine design, I know the chain at the back is a pain but when you see the full picture you can understand why, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hey Ant. Since I saw you at the Lubbesthorpe crimbo lights I’ve been watching your channel. Always assumed you knew your stuff but damn, you are a bloody genius! Great work mate. Rob
Great effort on the work on the engine and the video production very entertaining series so far I’ve just binge watched all the episodes 😂 keep it up top man 👍
Great job, well done. I did the chains on my wifes 318D as preventative maintenance back in 2012 shortly after we bought the car. Did it almost the same way as you but left the wiring loom behind in the bay, wished I'd done it the way you did. Seems like prices have become more realistic based on your earlier video, I paid over a grand for the timing parts from BMW back then and I didnt need the followers. Think theres a service postion for the bonnet if you un clip the struts and push it up to 90deg and insert a pin in the holes that line up but it was a while since I did the job! Good luck clearing the codes and with the rocker cover 👍
I did wonder about the bonnet hinges, I will look into that one, I will do a full costing at the end hopefully when its all fixed, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Oh no so close to the finish line, the cover is well expensive i would be tempted to get a used one or better still depending on the crack some plastic welding may sort it... Hopefully you sort it, the codes may be because everything was unplugged plus a low battery can triggy bizzare codes on some sensors, i dont think its anything major as the car fires up and is not running lumpy so it will be very minor them codes
That is my thoughts on the sensors as its all the engine sensors throwing faults, might try disconnecting the ecu again with the sensors now attached to the engine it might reset a glitch, I am going for a new rocker cover don't want to have to strip it again if any more issues appear Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
My BMW 320D E90 timing chain snapped, thankfully no internal damage, but the chain damaged the rocker cover and added £300 to my £900 garage bill. That was 3 years ago and my car is going strong.
My 2008 e91 320d has just snapped (undiagnosed) No movement in the oil filler when you crank it 😬😬 How did both of your sound when they went @michaelwood7239 and @aaanton11 because I didn’t hear massive crunching sound’s when it failed I say undiagnosed as it hasn’t seen a garage yet 💷💷💷 my mate put his code reader and it threw up 480A Particulate Filter System ЗЕСО Camshaft Sensor Signal 4590 Rail Pressure Plausibility Delivery Controlled 3FFO Air Mass Flow Sensor 483D Throttle Actuator
Nice job overall. One thing I would mention is that I wouldn't use hose water to fill the coolant. Officially it's supposed to be distilled water, but I tend to use tap water. I have found that hose water is considerably dirtier and has more minerals in it so not great for your cooling system.
Hi Anton, Great series highly enjoyed it. I have a question, when you started for the first time. Why did it take that long to start, When you said you primed the fuel pump/fuel line earlier in the episode , doesn't it mean that the fuel is ready to be sprayed in the cylinder and should have started a earlier than it did? Or is it because the compression didn't generate enough heat to combust the mixture, sorry new to this and was confused that particular step, but great series, keep it coming :)
The Fuel prime will only flush fuel as far as the high pressure pump, this can be a big issue as it can be really hard to get the air out of the pump, the first crank had to push fuel up the high pressure pipe to the fuel rail, fill the rail and injectors then squirt, the 2nd time the rail still had some fuel in it as I did not tip it up I think this sped things up a little. Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
omg thers nothing like going back and strip again but fairplay bro stunning work done amazing content stunning channel keep up the good work you deserve it bro the work you put into it bro stunning👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

Cracking video and nice work on the engine, in sure everything will be fine. Its very satisfying fixing it yourself to keep the car going.
