An important point to bring up is marketing. If you have good units, you don't need to get the new ones, right? That's probably the thinking Hoyo has, but to be honest, the reruns would sell much much more and people would definitely invest more to get the older units BECAUSE the powercreep won't be there. A lot of people are seeing how difficult this new endgame content has gotten, and it'd definitely make people get who they want, instead of being unhappy with a unit they need.
The powercreep is making the game in a non-ironical way less enjoyable, it breaks any sense of progress. All my efforts are useless because in the end it all boils down to: "if I pull for the new pj, I'll pass on the content, if not, then no." It's sisphus dragging the rock up the hill and it should never have been normalized in the first place.
