I remember having this CD and listening to this in my angst ridden teenage days...very soulful and majestic. Still great music...Cocteau Twins fan, Souixsie and the Banshees fan, 10,000 Maniacs fan, Sting and many, many more.
Reminds me of a happier younger period in my life. 1995. I had just returned after 3 years in Miami back to my native Chicago. I was living in this area of Chicago called Wrigleyville. I had these 2 chix as my roommates, this great job in Skokie and this even greater gf, Pam was her name. I remember putting this cassette tape - remember those? - in my car as I drove to work rainy mornings. Coincidental this tape was titled Umbrella. And hearing this harks me back to those days. There's a line in this song "My love for your knows no measure" that's how Pam felt about me. and I totally blew it. I barely remember her. But I will never forget her.
It seems this album struck a nerve in all of us who were in college in the '90's. The debut was fantastic for sure, but this one sticks. Can it be explained why the first is available on iTunes and this one is skipped? Funny thing, I was watching "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" with my teenage daughter a couple of years ago and there's a scene where an IM song starts playing. I immediately started paying attention and it turns out, it's a pretty good movie. Check it out, lots of good music.
@eirenike I just bought this cassette 5 months ago, and it didnt leave my car until the tape broke. A feeling no one has felt probly since around 1998. haha. this album already has a place in my heart though, soo great.
If there are any guitarists out there, I worked out (most of) the electric guitar parts for this song -what a beast it was... link here: tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/the-innocence-mission/and-hiding-away-chords-3261059

Nice Going, Roy
after a hard day of listening to hardcore , these old ears are happy to hear such a beautiful thing such as this.
I got to meet the Innocence Mission back in around 1992 or 1993. The most loving, humble people you'll ever meet in the music biz.
