- It's important to appreciate the journey that helped shape who we are. We’re celebrating #HispanicHeritageMonth with a collaboration with the Ghetto Film School, watch these 4 Stories in 1 amazing film!
Disney Entertainment Television (DET) has commissioned four alumni from the award-winning nonprofit Ghetto Film School to create a short film in honor of their Hispanic and Latin American culture. The project, titled “Yo Recuerdo/ I Remember,” weaves together four personal vignettes into a premium short film that reimagines core memories and connects them to their heritage. The film will be shared across DET’s extensive portfolio of digital platforms including ABC, ABC News, FX, Freeform, National Geographic, Onyx Collective and ABC Owned TV Stations.
More tribalism
Wait what? "Ghetto"? You're ghetto ABC for associating that word with these talented young Latino adults. I'd be ashamed if I were you.
I sure as hell wouldn't want to be referred to as a ghetto film school alumni. What makes it ghetto ABC hmm? Do tell.
USC is in a bad part of town. Would you consider a USC graduate a ghetto USC alumni?
I'm in this program right now and that's just the name of the school. It's a reclamation of the word.
Ghetto?! WOW. That is extremely insulting.

@@user-pj5yc5rs8k Doesn't make it any less Insulting and degrading.
@@Unk-s3n But that’s exactly it. It’s a stereotypically negative term forced onto a community, but incorporating it into the name is a power play. We get to interact with industry professionals and get top-notch resources. We’ve taken something that has been historically degrading and turned it into something empowering and prideful.
@@user-pj5yc5rs8k No, it's insulting and stupid. Any attempt to take a word in change its meaning rather than to change the hearts and minds of people is lazy and embarrassing.
@@Unk-s3n What a reductive view of language and the world. Anyone who knows the history of words and linguistics knows that words are meant to evolve and adapt to the culture of society. WE give power and meaning to words. Words are not supposed to define us. The whole point of filmmaking is changing hearts and minds as well as broadening perspectives, something you need to learn. Hope you find peace in the world some day.
"Ghetto" but "honoring the culture".? I mean, if you guys are confused then just say that 😂
Latino and Hispanic refer to Europe. Mexicans are not Europeans. Mexicans are native americans. Last time I checked mexico was in North America not Europe. Stop calling Mexicans Latin or Hispanic.
I'm Mexican born I'm Native American, n ever Hispanic or Latino.
Finally someone who knows!! 💪🏽
??? no. we r latinoamericans, and latinos is short for that. if u do like it, keep it to urself buddy
