- Black Future '88 is coming soon to the Nintendo Switch as a console exclusive! Players can grab a friend and fight to conquer a constantly evolving tower in the game's local Co-Op mode which supports individual JoyCon play for two players in both handheld and docked modes.
Black Future ’88 is a Synth-Punk roguelike 2D action Shooter. Vertically climb an always evolving procedural tower to reach the top and kill its insane owner…before your heart explodes. Shoot, slash, dash and upgrade yourself to survive the endless waves of deadly traps, homicidal AI, crazed junkies and colossal Wardens standing in your way in a stylish alternative version of 1988.
The world is reeling from a nuclear cataclysm, created by Duncan, the tower architect. The First of his bombs fell in the summer of 1988, and by December they had blacked-out the sun with endless rain. We decided to stop keeping time after this, and it’s been 1988 ever since. Everything that lived through the initial attack will die in the extreme floods that followed. These are the times after, where there are no more months, or even weeks…everything is measured in minutes left to live.
Take on the mantle of one of the last remaining misfit survivors, and fight your way to the top of the tower to kill the architect and stop the endless nuclear rain. Ascend to die, and die to survive.

IMO not really a fan of the animated intro. It felt off and both too stiff at some points and too rough in others and it just never felt quite right. The sprite work is quite gorgeous though.
I don't know why but I was expecting a JRPG when I clicked on this video.

This looks like an awesome game that I would be very, very, bad at.
I don’t hate the pixel art, but I do agree with the sentiment that it’s a bit overdone right now. I understand that for some indie developers it’s out of necessity, so that may be the case here. I prefer more unique styles like Unruly Heroes or Hollow Knight when possible though.

Looks good except this isn't a game that "ruins friendships" if you guys were smart you'd know that that's synonymous with Mario party and you'd make a decent one with full online and use that blurb in the trailer

Felt the same way. I thought it looked great! Then the cut scenes ended and it went to actual gameplay..... 🤦
I dunno I really like the way it looked, even after the cut scene.
intro was at like 9 fps. id buy it for $10, $25 for a physical copy. Truth be told I'd more likely spend that money on something not so generic.

Whether it's the game or title itself both aren't appealing to me how about a Nintendo work on getting great classics like Zombies ate my neighbors, Ghouls and Goblins, Punch out, Contra, Double Dragon, sunset riders, and etc just as some examples back on their platform. Theres plenty of classics that I would love and welcome a remake or sequel of today that we haven't seen in long time.
Lol. Everyone hates the main game. I’ll be honest. I’m getting a Switch for these games actually. I’m a indie lover. There are indeed some low quality indies out there, but there are also good ones. I know the trend is either BR or some 3D action games, but I prefer these myself. Just my opinion.
I gotta say, after playing Hollow Knight I feel really spoiled about visualization. Kinda not excited about the 8-16 bit look anymore. Game still looks hella fun though
As much as I love decrepit environments and synthwave music, I am starting to suffer from cyberpunk fatigue at this point.

i know the animation is pretty good and all, but the framerate is just a bit low. And i am not talking about the handmade, the background and camera movement are skiping frames for some reason, while the characters movement looks fine
