    I would consider this an easy 4wd outing in the dry. If it gets wet, it can get a bit tricky getting up a few of the hills, but I would think you would have no troubles as long as you have some decent all terrain tyres.

    @surpriseofferings - Glad you liked it, Turon National Park is basically from where the sign is at 4:30 to the end.

    Great video. How long does it take to do this run without stops?

      @OnTheDirt  5 лет назад +1

      You can do the entire trip in a day from Sydney. But to do just this track, you should allow a good 4 hours (we've done it in 1/2 that time though).

    That hill at 4 min. Its even harder now. Just loose rocks all over it. Gave it a run on the dirtbike and its a good challenge. I did the sunny corner village to old turon gates and back on dark corner road into sunny again on the bike. About 110km. great ride!

    Do you reckon this could be done in a crossover? I've got a Rav4
    Thanks

    • @OnTheDirt
      @OnTheDirt  10 лет назад

      More than likely, yes. But, there are a few conditions I'd want before doing it in a Rav. I'd be doing it on a dry day, making sure the water levels in the Turon river are low and going with someone in a full sized 4wd.

    one of the worst things about 4x4 clubs is they will just plow along when it gets wet....churning up roads and making it impossible for us locals when we want to go out and get firewood etc etc...I think in fact 4x4 clubs should be prepared to repair roads they fuck up.Who in their right mind climbs steep hills when they are wet?? Fucking wankers.Roads I could drive in 2wd are just about impossible now and as a local I get pretty cranky with jackasses in 4x4 clubs

    • @OnTheDirt
      @OnTheDirt  4 года назад

      Most 4x4 clubs are responsible and we always have a 'tread lightly' approach. Sometimes the roads are wet and even in these circumstances you can still get through without making a mess of the roads. You need to remember that the roads are there for our use, just as much as they are there for your use. We need to share them and look after them together. You don't own these roads just because you are local. Having travelled along these actual roads many many times over the past 20 years, they are still in a similar condition and no worse now than they have been in the past. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

      @@OnTheDirt the other day i followed about 10 young blokes doing stupid shit on erosion control berms spinning the wheels etc etc...I was annoyed...and those roads are for your use as well i get it but when im out there and i guess i'm out there alot more than you ....i'm not plowing endlessly back and forth creating giant bog holes and getting my mates to tow me out...if you want I will start taking pics and putting them up.....like i said places i could go in 2wd now require 3 foot of ground clearance and a winch.....or tracks....if you lot fuck it up then you should fix it.....im annoyed enough to put up trail cams on some of these tracks...and then we can all enjoy the entertainment ..number plates etc etc...

    What an irresponsible display of trail damage. After you lot have been through this passage in these weather conditions the trail will require significant remediation in order to allow further vehicles to pass. This is my major grudge with four-wheel-drivers as they have no consideration for other road users and are responsible for the majority of trail damage done in Australia and should be subject to a secondary public road tariff above and much higher than the surfaced road registration costs.

    • @OnTheDirt
      @OnTheDirt  3 года назад +1

      The trail did not need remediation and was in great condition on the other 6 occasions we travelled across it since filming this in 2011. We cannot predict the conditions of the roads on any given day and we limited our wheel spin and used the 'tread lightly' approach wherever possible. When it rains half way through a trip into the forest, it's pretty difficult to not have some degree of wheel spin when the only way out (forward or return) are steep climbs.
