Philippines looks to tackle severe water pollution

- Water pollution is set to dominate an environment conference being hosted by the European Union in Malta.
Organisers will be looking at how to tackle the growing problem.
The Philippines is one of the world's worst water polluters.

The root cause is lack of dump truck that regularly collects waste. And the government should invest on dumpster and facilities for waste management. It's only on paper and law. The law regarding waste management should be updated. Provisions for penalties should include minors and their parents. CCTV footage should be use as evidence as well as body cam. Those who littered should be obliged to clean the river for the entire year.

This is old, now Manila Bay is one of the tourist attractions and even the Pasig River all cleaned up (want to see these when I go there next month) and many more places where Filipinos could be proud of. Thanks to your president Duterte. He created many projects so Filipinos can have jobs to help ease the problems of their families and so on. The Filipinos love President Duterte. Duterte is the worst président the Philippines ever had before. He legalized corruption allowing cops to kill people with no evidence. Filipinos like him because of 5he effects of 400 years of colonization. They have no guideline to know what a good leader is.

The biggest problem in the Filipino society is the quasi absence of landmarks and guidelines. There is no exemplary people to show Filipinos how to be civilized, moral, intelligent and progressive. There are the parents (who abuse of their kids and belittle them), the religious leaders, Manny Pacquiao, Kris Aquino, businessman and religious doctors like Wille Ong who wants to run as senator, Filipino stars who and personalities who don't know how to act and got their jobs because of the color of their skin or have good connections. As result Filipinos are lost and end up voting for lunatics who promise to persecute them like their ex conquistadors.
@Pearl Shake In sociol sciences we must generalize because it's the masses who shape the countries. Not the leaders. The positive change never comes from the top of the pyramid. It comes from the bottom. That's why the only thing that can save the Philippines is a cultural revolution, but we all know this will never happen because of the so called Filipino Pride. There is a very frustrating factor in the Philippines: It's very rare people recognize their mistakes. Nobody wants to take the responsibilities for nothing. Never in my life I saw a Filipino standing up and getting mad about the real problem this country is facing saying: we have this and and this social problems, and we need to do this tangible action to fix it. Again, I think it's because of the lack of references. Talking like this in the Philippines is considered as a big taboo and other Filipinos will bash him to bring him back on the "right track".

There are some very very conscientious good people in the Phils, I admire what they are trying to do, but they are so very few, its not the fault of the people, its the Government, its easier to turn you back on people especially when they are poor and to frightened to speak up, especially in the provinces where the same families are re-elected to be the Barangay Captains year after year, just in those position to further their own wealth and positions. I guess its the same old story, the poor get poorer and down trodden while the rich just get richer. I wish there was something I could do, but the system has allowed this for so long it will never change.
