I've seen vids where guys will jigsaw 8 transition panels & all 8 look nothing like the other & spend 1/2 a day just sanding & still not get it right. Finally someone had the sense to get a router & flush trim bit...bang on, every time.
a crew that knows what a router is , you guys are the 1st ones i have seen in all how to build a skate ramp videos use a router , when i built my last half pipe i cut out all transitions rough and made a jig and cleaned them up with my porter cable , it was the smoothest ramp i have ever built . kudo's to you guys
Wow! Very cool! Why in the wold would did someone "dislike" this video?! Must have a daily quota of negativity they have to meet each day. Anyway, awesome video -that ramp looks solid and will last a lifetime.
For anyone who is looking to build a ramp or any feature for outdoor use you NEED TO USE PRESSURE TREATED LUMBER AND PLYWOOD!!! Otherwise it will just rot. PT lumber is what fences and deck are made from . They also must have good air flow and be off the ground. This ramp they build will rot away in no time. Never close the back like they did either
Mine looked like this 4 years ago now my surface has rotted away I used marine ply good paint and covered it and it still died can’t afford skatelite 😢😢😢 UK weather is savage
I feel your pain mate, I live on the west coast of Scotland so it's always wet here. Did you paint it before assembly or after? I know it will die, but I'm so tempted to do it again but paint every inch of it all after cutting. It's the hope that kills you haha.
I know 1/4" plywood will bend like that, especially if you get it a little damp before screwing it down. I'm curious if 3/8" plywood will? Guess I'll have to find out
Lol I’m checking this out a year later and it looks great! But looking at the comments on asking for the plans and such, if you had any experience in framing or carpentry, you’d have a pretty good idea on how to build it, maybe even making the dimensions easier so you don’t have to cut as much but good work guys! Maybe skate lite for the top layer or something of the sort would make it better but I’m sure you know that!
Great build bro! You know, right now I’m strongly considering build one of those for me here in my backyard (Portugal / Perosinho) to scape this big depression (covid/terror/govs/lockdowns). Where are you from guys? Cheers
@@erlingo6449 And at the and I came back to Brazil and I'm skating more than ever. Also, there's a new skatepark coming true here in my city. At least the money the government steals from us has turned into something useful.
I'd be worried that's not enough of a riding surface. Generally would want two layers of 3/8" ply, then whatever your top surface is. I'm guessing you went with sanded Fir or something similar?
I don't see anything in the description other than overall dimensions. I'll have to convert metric to standard. I'd like to know the transition radius as well.
What is the purpose of using the router at 2:02-2:07? I understand smoothing the sides to make sure that they're all even, but what exactly are you doing in 2:02-2:07?
my dream is to have one of this in my backyard, but at my country the price is so much expensive that there's no way you get to buy one of this between 3000 $
This looks cool, but it's completely unnecessary to put the surface at an angle. It would have been more practical, durable and faster to use Gator Skins. In addition to that, Gator Skins is so smooth and fast while providing just the right amount of grip and it doesn't need covered.
Looks like Gator Skins. There's only a couple outdoor wood skate surfaces on the market, Skatelite and GatorSkins, probably more, but those are the only two I've heard of in my research on making my own miniramp... Gatorskins is a bit cheaper than Skatelite.
@@whitneylemelin7400 I can't afford the pro stuff either - my plan is to lay down my heavy ply layers and then run a layer of tar paper over it, and finally skin it with 1/4" birch ply - that way when the rain eventually wrecks the top I can just peel off the thin top layer and everything underneath it will be protected by the tar paper and I just just reskin the top with the cheaper thin stuff. I'm also going to try to keep it tarped when it rains but that can be a pain in the ass
@@TheIronDuke9 Remember you're going to have hundreds of screw holes in the tar paper for water to leak through. We Thompson sealed all our substructure and sub layers
@@TheIronDuke9 That was my original plan as well. After a month of leaking tarps and wet warped plywood, I bit the bullet and paid for the Gator Skins. I now never cover it and it looks great still.
Is there any chance you’d be willing to share the plans you used for this? This is the best miniramp build I’ve ever seen, hands down!

Of all the back yard mini ramps I've seen, that one is the best quality
Yeah it looks great, it's a shame that they didn't use a proper quality skate surface to match though.
Beautiful ramp! Very clean and precise work, it adds up and shows. Well done 👍👍
My dad made one just like that when i was around 10 years old and skated all the time. Loved it so much.
Good job angling the plywood. Looks great.
Thanks for this video!!! Now i can build it my self

Nope, this one is gonna sink in the ground and lose it's level in no time, sadly. It's really nice tho
We built it one year ago and it still steady and leveled
@@_-0_x_-_p_0-_ yeah I'm not a huge fan of it either but it's bearable.
Was awesome watching y’all build the mini ramp, thanks for posting. 🤘
@VR Freddy yes yes very much
Que show ficou a rampa de vocês, parabéns pra todos. Um abração.
Ramp building, camera, and editing skills to rule all!
so clean looking very nice!
Man that looked fun to build and skate!.
Awesome video! 🤟
I want to see one of those built right now with the lumber prices being crazy lol

sick dude. love the new video. keep up the good work
Great work! Nice Video
so perfect. love to see a breakdown of the plans
yes
In the process of building one now. What did you use for the top layer covering?
Great idea putting the finished skin on at 45°!
Although completely unnecessary. Should have used Gator Skins, they'd be happier in the long run.
Nice one !

3:30 nice edit bro
Is there any plans yet? Sick ramp. Or atleast know what ply you used radius and waterproofing
Curious how you put the screws into the 2x4's from the center plywood piece; were they angled in? Minute 2:37
it's smarter to build the two ramp sections separately and use a large bolt or a bunch of screws to join them
You shouldn't have to worry about doing that unless the ramp you're tying to build is over 6 feet wide if so every 6 feet you should section it
it’s a mini ramp also can you tell us the plans for it and how much it cost I can calculate the inflation of wood but can you tell us?
Hi folks
thanks for sharing the amazing work
What is the thickness of the table used at minute 4:33? in millimeters or centimeters?
2 sheets of ply and one of them is like what 2mm? surely someones wheel is gonna go right through that
Material list? How many of each lumber
Going to build one
Hey mate! I know this is an old video but was wondering how big this ramp is and what size radius you used ? Cheers mate
how long did this take
Dear bro , What kind of plywood do you use? Where you buys ?
I'd be worried that's not enough of a riding surface. Generally would want two layers of 3/8" ply, then whatever your top surface is. I'm guessing you went with sanded Fir or something similar?
Nice job but the masonite were still damp from the rain....
do u think this could be done in someone backyard in 1 week or maybe less.
Just about to build for the kids. What top surface is that
Awesome build. What radie do you used for the transistors?
currently looking to build a ramp with friends. lots of discussion going on about the best radi for a 4 ft ramp.
I've never seen anyone run the plywood diagonal like that before - should I be doing that with mine? Is there a big advantage?
I wonder too. Maybe it’s just to look cool
its to stop your wheels clipping the edge of a piece of plywood if it sticks out and it looks cooler
Its way more comfortable to roll on since your hitting the gaps one wheel at a time
yes, big regret from my first mini but it was so it could be moved...building one soon though
Eliminating perpendicular seams makes for a smoother ride. However, that was entirely negated by only using one layer of plywood under the top layer.
וואו נראה טוב אני גם מנסה לתכנן בנייה של רמפה לסקייטבורד ומסתבך קצת אם איזה סוגי עצים צריך אשמח אם תוכל לרשום איזה סוג עץ אתה משתמש לכל חלק
This looks hella dope. Nice job! Would you have any plans I could look into?
Thanks! Still Working on the plans, need to do some changes I came across during the built
Let me know when you put these plans together!
What's the timestamp where they show the half pipe?
How long is the flat bottom?
What’s are your using on the wood to protect against the elements?
Cool
I don't see anything in the description other than overall dimensions. I'll have to convert metric to standard. I'd like to know the transition radius as well.
How long, tall and wide is this and also what was the cost of everything in total
Shaun Mckay My guess is 12 feet wide, 4 feet tall, and from my personal experience it would cost 1,500 to 1,750
its in the desc
Nice work✌️✌️
Outstanding work!! Bad ass ramp, what length are the transitions? If I’m saying that right, it looks like maybe 7? Very nice
do you have building plans
