This Spain team is good but its no where near the 2008 one
Listen, that Spanish team of 2010 was one of the best teams I’ve ever seen in my life. They would literally pass any team off the pitch. Yes, it was boring to many, but that was simply their style. It was their art of football. And it brought perhaps the most success to any national team in this century.
That team from 2008 to 12 conceded ZERO goals in knock out games over three tournaments. Thats less than Spain did TONIGHT. Not bitching but this Spain today is great, but fml that Spain that won three trophies in a row is in the top three, MINIMUM, international teams EVER.
1:43 short memories. 2007-13 Spanish side was insane. The hype was real
They were the most dominant squad over that period levels above the teams of that time.
But I enjoyed watching this team more
That spain team along with the barcelona team are the greatest team to play football simple as
1990 West Germany side and the AC Milan side from the same era are the best I've seen

Its no different to how spain play now, high possession high press football, the difference is that 2008 team had a far more talented midfield and attacking players

The Spain vintage from 2008-12 had Iniesta and Xavi and I would definitely not call them 'boring'. Those two midfield magicians were arguably the best CAM pairing to have played the game since the turn of this century.
The problem that Spain side had that kept the goal scoring down was the opposition parking the bus. They weren't able to do much more in the face of so much possession.
It was boring because it was so dominant.

This Spain team have broken the Euro record for consecutive wins and they play with style.
They've beaten the reigning Champions (Italy), the current World cup runners up and previous winners (France), the World Cup bronze medallists in the last two editions (Croatia), and the talented hosts, Germany.
They've been absolutely brilliant.
He’s right that this current Spanish team is good, he’s not right that they’re anywhere close to as good as 2008, The strength and depth of world class players in World football in the mid to late 2000s was of a higher quality than it is today, European teams like Italy, holland, Germany are not what they were and thats been reflected in how poor this tournament has been overall. Spain as good as they are are the best of what is a pretty dire bunch.
Croatia were runners up in 2018 and bronze in 2022

2008-2012 Spain was the best national team of the 21st century and one of the best national teams in football history period, there's nothing on that level today
Too soon to say this as Spain from 2008 went on to win the WC 2010 and retained the Euros in 2012, something that no other team has managed so far. This Spain side is on to a great start if they manage to win this Euros but they got much more to do before they can surpass the legacy of their predecessors.
@yoshiwoollyworld there's so much time away from that you can't say theyll be playing this well then and of course you can't assume the other nations wont improve. Too many variables to predict that all you can say rn is that they are playing brilliantly and well have to wait for them to show us how far they can go.

I’m glad they’ve swayed away from the tiki taka nonsense. Don’t get me wrong it was great to watch when it first came onto the scene but now when I watch teams (like Man City) keep possession without any intent, it’s boring and dull as hell

O’Hara…that’s the best international team we’ve ever seen (Spain 2008-2012). Apart from Brazil and France 98-2000. Now every team tries to play like that Spanish & Barcelona team, boring everyone to tears. Meanwhile Spain 2024 have ripped up,the blueprint and go for it.
No where near 2008 level.

They are not! How can he say that! This current Spain side is nowhere near the 2008 team or 2012 team. Rubbish
2008 team were obviously better. Not only did they dominate the international scene from 2008-12 but the Barcelona team, which was largely comprised of those Spanish players, won more CL than any other in that period and reached 6 consecutive SF in a row.
Both Spains teams are superb playing very different styles. The current side is not even the finished article. Still building.
That team dominated for 6 years, 2 euros and one wc, this team has played well but has won nothing yet, xavi iniesta combo is incredibly tough to argue against

@@user-jw8mn7oi7x people have become fatigued by peps style of play over the years, you have to remember though that when that 2008 team were playing that way it hadn’t really been seen before. No team prior had been talented enough to hold possession like that, it only became boring now that its been copied to death

That Spanish team was basically Barcelona without Messi, they were absolutely ridiculously talented, no current team on the international stage comes anywhere close to spain 2008, and thats a sign of the times, this tournament has been pretty terrible apart from moments of quality from this Spanish team.
