As Malaysian, I want to state to some uneducated people about this orangutan. Orangutans in Malaysia at the Borneo are being take a good care just like this orangutan in this video. They being rescued and live in sanctuary because they endangered species from habitat lost. This video is from a sanctuary that I have seen it in Malaysia and this orangutan have been take a good care from the keeper and their caretaker and they are well fed there. To the uneducated people who think this is an animal abuse. It's not an abuse, it's a sanctuary. This sanctuary atracts tourists so they show this beautiful creature why they are important. By seeing from this video, I don't see any abuse, people assuming that the orangutan is force to take a selfie with people. But it's not about forcing them, it's because they are friendly towards a human. I can assure you from my experience, orangutans are passive creature and love to communicate. Even if someone don't take a selfie with them, they will come to you because they are a social creature. They love to interact with you and want to get to know you 😊 To uneducated people who said that they should be free. You guys don't even know what's going on in MY LOVELY COUNTRY. Malaysia has been facing this issue about habitat lost for years now. If we free those creature from sanctuary without good conditions, they won't survive for long time in the new forest for their new habitat after their old habitat has been destroy. If release them early without any train for survival skill, they can be an easy target to predators or even poachers. This is something you'd expect from a place run by Joe Exotic, not a GFAS-accredited animal sanctuary. Compare what we're seeing here at this supposed orangutan "sanctuary" to Save the Chimps, an accredited sanctuary housing chimpanzees, where staff and volunteers don't have physical contact with the residents. We're a health risk to other primates and we can contract many of the same diseases, so it's in everybody's best interest that we keep our distance and avoid interactions like the one in the video.
