All techs should watch this as an excellent example of how to present a video tutorial. So many leave the camera running while they perform some tedious and repetitive action; also, using still shots as illustration is far superior to simply moving the video in closer. Narration stays on task the entire time with no inane digressions or gratuitous profanity. You'd think this would all come naturally, but apparently not. So, good work and thanks for posting.

Gosh, thanks a lot, William S. That video made almost nine years ago was my first tutorial and first ever disassembly of a bottom bracket! Being self-critical I only see the flaws. It was nice of you to see the good points, which I myself had not known of before.

REID, YOU WON'T FIND LOOSE BEARINGS WITH THE ONE-PIECE CRANK OFTEN.
IT'S HARD TO PUT LOOSE BEARINGS IN A ONE-PIECE CRANK. I'VE DONE IT AND
IT HELPS BY HAVING THE FRAME STRIPPED DOWN WHERE YOU CAN LAY IT ON ITS SIDE.
    JUST MY OPINE. GOOD VIDEO!!

of course for any type of freestyle a 2 or 3 piece crank is best. but for general riding a 1 piece would do. I have had my stock 1 piece bend on me riding dirt jumps on my first decent freestyle bmx. this is for people that might need advice in this area. They seem to be the same style as a freestyle 1 piece. I know they have 2 types of American bottom brackets such as this caged or loose ball bearing and sealed cartridge with cups installed. Typically not found in bmx anymore.

  • @jeffslife4336

And one more thing the grease they usually put on there is so thin that it's easy to collect dirt but the grease I used is good for 500 degrees fahrenheit and I don't have very much dirt on my bearings because I loaded my bearings with grease
