There isn't a day I don't miss Mansun. My favourite band of all time, with such creative ability behind their jovial facade, and with one of the best male singers of all time in Paul. Six is just a masterpiece.
I remember first listening to this on a John peel session on radio 1 in 1994/1995, possibly as late as early 1996 but unlikely. I have/had a radio recording of it somewhere...
This song has aged better than most of the songs from the mid-90s. I still listen to it as much as I did back then. In fact, this and Flourella are both played when I am at the gym.
gimp on drums...we used to hear this song in the rehearsal rooms, we knew they would make it, Cast too, they were in another room..we on the other hand fookin didn't and i'm still working my day job
At least you tried though, right?...Marie than most can say. Funnily enough I’ve worked with a few people who were in (semi) famous bands that ended up working normal jobs. I worked with the guitarist from Deus in a call centre and the bassist from Toploader in a care home. Funny old life.
@@neilmclaughlin2347 Yes we did...i'm still doing music at home, got furloughed last April for 4 months and decided to write an album lol.....got loads of tracks now and now got the urge to get a band together again haha if places reopen though.
Remember buying the single after hearing this on radio 1 And reading on the sleeve that the bands contact number began with 01244... So I knew they were a Chester band. Worked the bar in the NGA when they played there a couple of years later. They were rather good and even though they had chart success with other songs, this was always my fave.

Heard they are reforming this year to play every tune off Kleptomania!!…now wouldn’t that be a fookin dream!!? 😆✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻😎 best band of the 90’s…apart from those squabbling manc bruvuz✌🏻😉

One of their first song and it has such a great riff. BTW, the drummer is wearing a mask. Is it because the original drummer, Carlton Hibbert was not in the band any longer? Interesting.

Their style was very interesting as it looked like they'd just come from a big rave for this video shoot. And that drum loop is normally used because the band might not have a proper drummer yet. Good song when your all together in the pub having a sing-a-long.
I bought this as a CD in my early 20’s. I’m 54 now.
WTFFF?!!!
It doesn't get old, does it? Timeless music ❤
We're all in the same boat I think, ambushed by age.
This song's all about that sleazy siren lick during the chorus.

jovial?
Going on a massive Mansun nostalgia trip at the moment. Great times. Remember them and this song at Reading 99 - brilliant band
That riff will never not be great.
need it at least once a week
Today i moved to Prague and gonna celebrate it hard!
It was so weird hearing this with vocals for the first time after hearing the instrumental endlessly on GT2 as a kid lol.
Ah the song that brings back GT2 memories ❤. 90s were the best years.

That riff..... *chef's kiss*
Dont know how they did it but comes off -BIG TIME !
One of my favourite ever songs. Not just from Mansun but anyone. Fucking immense!
Too cool

Flourella is classic!
The baggy-style beat and Liam Gallagher vocals date it, their later live versions are much better.
That guitar riff still makes the hairs on my neck tingle.
One of the best live bands of the 90s! This track live was fantastic!
On top of that, the nicest of people! Please refoem and tour guys!
THI live band imho.... saw everytone back then and these just bley mu tiny mind again and again.
I used to listen to this song everyday, using my sony walkman

fooman65 At Crash? If so, some great days (and nights) had there :)
Marley Evans Yeah Crash, with John and Mark. Boo Radley's came out of there too. We had a go but it wasn't to be.

Got this when it first came out, 500 only 7" single and they were called Manson.
Great band!! great singer..Paul Draper..
I am missing Mansun.
What a band...great memories
So many flares. Ahhh, the 90s! Good times, good times.
what a great song, the first time When I ear them that was Legacy from a rock magazine call Rocksound 97-98 I think...and since that time I am a fan
That was great magazine, Rock and Metal but it included some Indie and Goth bands as well.
Great track, great lyrics, especially "drinkin' beer." Beer is wonderful.

Great Sound !
defo one of the best bands!

Oh my Chad!
Nice! That first part reminds me of the main riff from “Take it Easy, Chicken,” by Mansun. 👍🏼
What song is this?
@@lainey3612 Whoops! I misplaced that comment. It was supposed to go onto a vid my brother posted.
The rest of the song does too now I think about it
Who was Star? (in the lyrics)
Superb
who are they? They're good. why were they not more popular. They got past my radar. This was probably one of those popular Underground bands that you would have to search for in order to find.
They were plenty popular in the UK in their heyday. Regular appearances in the top 10 of the charts.
Man, get their album Six. It's one of the greatest records ever made.
I'd get Attack of the Grey Lantern instead, Six is a bit mental.

Why can't this band reform for another tour???
all dead boy
Cos they really don't like each other these days. Paul Draper is touring next year though

Pretty sure it's a drum machine on this song, maybe it's a reference to that?

a far better band than the roses
Nothing like the roses better songs all day

Mansunしか、勝たん!
優勝です🎉
Che riff
can hear a Gallagher influence, big tune
I'm glad Mansun didn't include this in the UK version of Grey Lantern. It wouldn't have worked.
i wished they had..it was an immense song that could have made them bigger...love that album, especially naked twister
@@tonyb5884 Yeah I think it should have been on Grey Lantern too.
US version left off Stripper Vicar though which is fairly upsetting.
They were like Oasis only Mansun were actually great
Classy music ❤
The song is good, but the vocals... ugh
Their worst single.
