I had that haircut in 1990, my barber used to call it a step in the back. A slight undercut round the edge's with clippers, not too much though just a 3 with a tiny trim when it was loosing shape. I think I even showed him a picture of Tim and said do it like that. He took his time and perfected it. It was obviously a popular choice for the indie/ravers at the time. I think John Squire wore it best in '89.
