Emma, I saw this coming the summer after you had Jordan. I saw myself 34 years earlier going having the very same feelings. I was a nurse in the Air Force, in of all areas - the NICU. I had already lost two babies and was pregnant with my third baby, and my husband was an medical intern, also in the Air Force. God blessed us with a healthy baby boy after a complicated pregnancy and delivery, and I fully intended to stay in the military at least until my husband had finished his residency. But after one particularly busy day, when I was picking up our baby after a 15 hour work day, I realized how twisted it was that I was spending my days taking care of other mom's babies, when the baby I had waited for for so long was with a baby sitter. At that moment I knew that my career as a nurse was done, and I was going to be a full time mom. I was so fortunate to have a husband who was 100% supportive of that decision, and 35 years later I have had absolutely no regrets. I got to do things with my son that I would not have been able to had I continued to work, and I have memories that will be with me forever. As it turned out, he was the only child we were blessed with, and I am so grateful that God sent me the message of what my life was meant to be. I'm now the grandmother of two beautiful little girls, and blessed with a daughter in law whom I love with all my heart. So I can tell you with experience, you stick to your guns, ignore the snarky comments some people may make, and you enjoy your time with your daughter. It's going to be the most rewarding job you will ever have, as well as the hardest one.

When you shifted from teaching content to a different style earlier this year I had a feeling that you would be leaving. I could see how much burnout you were experiencing. I am proud of you for choosing yourself, so often we’re made to feel bad as teachers for picking ourselves but I am so happy for you that your able to chose yourself. Congratulations on your new journey

I left teaching after 10 years to be more available to my family. I had no idea how much my family needed me to manage our home during this season. You never know the doors the Lord will open if we are obedient to where He is calling us. Good for you! 🙌

I resigned from teaching after having my 1st. We were fortunate that financially I could stay home for all 3 of our children. I felt called back to teaching once my youngest was in full time kindergarten. It was during the pandemic and our school was desperate for subs. I started there, then renewed my license. I’m about to finish my 1st year back after 10 years of not teaching. I’m so glad I was able to stay home with my kids when they were little❤

She is now 16 and I just got hired as a first grade teacher after all that time off. I am so excited. I enjoyed my time off to be with my kids, but it is time for me to do what I love!
    Enjoy!

I was so sad when I saw the title, but overcome with joy for you after watching. My journey was opposite. I was blessed to be a stay at home mom for 20 years when God called me to become a teacher. This is my first year. I did teach pre-K in my home for 4 years previous to this year. What a blessing it was to be home with my children. 3/6 are still living at home, but my youngest is 11. I know God leads our lives. He promised me my kids would be fine if I followed his will and became a full time teacher. I love how we need not fear if we follow the Lord. Your spirituality is what I love about your content.

Our situation was different and very challenging, but I’m thankful for all of those years that I got to be with my 2 kids full time. It’s what made sense to me, personally. I’m so glad that Michael got an amazing promotion, and that you’ll be able to have more flexibility and peace of mind. All this to say - you did the right thing. Emma, your testimony had me in tears. I love how God orchestrates our lives. Today the Lord spoke to me that sometimes we get so caught up in the stuff going on around us that we forget to step back and look at the bigger picture. This past school year, you stepped back and looked at the bigger picture. God WILL provide; He will sustain you. You are making a wise decision. Every time you have posted a video this year I have felt sad that you can't spend the time you want with your beautiful daughter. I am so thrilled by this video. To encourage you, I gave up a really good job in 2010 to go full-time in children's ministry. I left a well-paid job for something I wasn't sure I had a future, and there was no salary on offer. But I knew this was what God was calling me to do. Here I am 13 years later, still walking with God, still doing the same ministry, I've had highs and lows and through it all, God has carried me. I don't think I can even say he walked beside me; I think he carried me the whole way. If ever I need anything, I pray about it and give it to God. I could keep you here for a week sharing how God has answered prayers for me. Praying for you.

I quit a few years ago. I saw it coming-like a train and I couldn't get out of the way. Like you, I felt like I was spending more time on discipline than actual teaching. Plus, pressures from admin and parents? Recipe for disaster. I told myself in college that if the day ever came that I didn't enjoy teaching, I was done. And that day finally came. No regrets. When he started kindergarten and I started looking for a new job. The perfect job lined up. I received a big raise and my new job has so much better work life balance.

I’m so happy for you. It’s never the wrong decision to stay with your children, but you were wise to pray earnestly about it. God will never lead you where his grace can’t keep you. Your daughter is blessed to have you, and you will be able to teach her so many things.

I often watch you and other young teacher-vloggers with kids and just don't know how you do it. I had to resign from teaching when my second son was born. But, I still needed an income. I started a home daycare and did that for 12 years, and was able to be home with all three of my boys for those 12 years. I will NEVER regret it. I've been back in the classroom for 7 years and this is the next chapter of my life. The chapter of child-raising was precious and beautiful (and VERY busy with the daycare). I am very happy for you.

I left my job after teaching in schools for 10 years. After having my daughter, I continued teaching FT for 2 years and it was WAY harder than I thought it would be to be a mom/teacher. I switched to part time still teaching at a school for 2 years. After having my son, my part time position wasn’t an option anymore. I now teach online from home about 10-15 hours a week. It’s the best balance of still doing something for myself while also having the time to be with my kids and have flexibility.
I feel so similar to you. I never planned to stay home with my kids. I loved teaching so much. But after having kids I really feel so differently! My daughter is now in kindergarten and my son is in preschool. I love being able to pick them up from school but still have my own “job” while they are gone. I think having your YT channel will give you a creative outlet/something just for you! Can’t wait to follow along your new journey! 😊

The last video of yours, I believe you were on a long weekend, you showed a lot of you spending time with Jordan and it reminded me of when I stayed home with my girls. I also have a Jordyn 😊. Just trust your heart!

I taught for 5 years, stayed home for 10 years to raise my three boys until they were all in school, and have been back in education for the last 6 years. It was the best decision at the time for me and my family. I have no regrets. I am now a better teacher for taking that time. I love my job and I pray your decision continues to bring you peace and joy.

I retired early after a 26 year career. I wanted to finish a full career but medical and other circumstances dictated an early departure. That was 2015. I cant believe it has been 8 years since that decision day. Presently, I AM subbing in a busy and fun school here in P.E.I. I love it. all the very best for you, Michael and Jordan next year. Going into this school year I was struggling feeling like I wasn’t a good teacher because I didn’t want to have my identity in teaching and I wanted to set boundaries. I have be a subscriber since the beginning and then I saw your video where you set boundaries with your videos making them life style and not teaching, then not showing your daughter, then keep your birth story to yourself, and sharing you faith. You became an inspiration and I’ve loved watching your videos. I am soo happy for you and am excited to see this new chapter in your life.

Following your story I could feel your heart going in this direction. I left my corporate job when my daughter (also named Emma Grace ❤) was just 2 yo. I went on to have 2 more children and being home with them was the most special time in my life and theirs. They’re all in middle and HS now (that first baby is graduating this year and leaving for college). 3 years ago I started a new career teaching and it’s the perfect job for a mom of older kiddos. All that to say teaching will always be there if and when you need. Enjoy your baby girl! I promise…the years will pass too quickly for your mama heart ❤.

I became a stay at home mom when my oldest was born and we had three kids. My plan was always to go back to work once my youngest was in school. But the year she went to Kindergarten, my oldest was in 5th grade and with middle school looming and just so much happening in the world, we decided to homeschool. So the next year, we pulled them all out and we have been homeschooling ever since. I don't regret a single choice to put my kids first and to spend as much time with them as possible. It is hard, but we are all thriving and we love it.

This hit me right in the feels. I just turned in my letter of resignation to my principal this week and it was so scary. She was super supportive and I absolutely felt called to leave, but I’ve been in the same place for 6 years. I loved it, but I’ve been looking forward to going back to school and after having my son, I knew I couldn’t juggle teaching, my own schooling and be the mom I want to be. Thank you for making me feel more confident in my decision. 😊
