Please, what kinda farm are you running. Coz it really seems like it's a mouse and rat farm. Or is it normal to have so many mice and rats when you have about a thousand traps. It's a paradox I need explained. Are you encouraging (feeding) them / breeding them? Or why do you have so many mice, and when needed rats on demand? Really amazed by old traps, wish you had a playlist with all of them. Also could you make a video on how to make humane traps from common items. Test them and tell us which are the best. There's several RUclips videos about it, I made the coke bottle one. But then just decided to go ahead and use the common trap. But I only had like one mouse.
@@skeetsmcgrew3282 I'm not suggesting a modification, more like a new trap. Take the concept (swinging bar) and make one that's motorized (and over a bucket)
Looks like there is a hole on the side of this trap. What if you hooked a tube up with a one-way door to a separate holding container? Then the rats would go through the hole and try to escape. That would solve the problem of them being behind the trap door and blocking it. I'd love to see a second video with this modification. Cheers!
Matt Richardson I was thinking about sloping the back (storage) side and add some oil to the bottom so they slip and have no traction... Might just have to tilt the whole thing a bit and lube the inside...
A weekly mouse trap video was, IMO, the lamest channel on RUclips, however, I’ve become hooked and eagerly look forward to each new video. I’m dumbfounded by all the different types of traps which exemplifies the old old saying about building a better mouse trap. I would like to commend you for your clean and quality productions!!! Thank you.
Thanks Shawn, I enjoy the content of your videos and the way you present that content. I hope RUclips keeps it worthwhile for content providers like you, as I will always watch
This isn't really a question but more of a suggestion for a future video. I was wondering if you'd be able to have your kids draw up a design for a mouse trap and try to recreate it and set it up for action to see how they perform. Just an idea that I thought would be interesting!
My son loves your videos, he is also obsessed with Garbage Trucks. "He wanted to tell you that theres lots of rats in garbage trucks and the dump because they like to eat the garbage." He is eternally curious like myself and I want to thank you for producing wholesome, educational, real life entertainment!

Smoked Alligator jalapeno poppers. Tim Farmer is a medically retired Marine, (arm mangled in a cycle accident) then retired from Kentucky Fish & Game. You are the "rat whisperer". Love how the rats and mice just fall asleep in your hands. Just look at that cute little nasty rat sleeping as you caress it by the tail and lay it down on that rock.
Lightly season gator meat with salt and pepper prior to dredging them in flour. Combine buttermilk and hot sauce into 1 mixture. Dip the gator meat into the buttermilk and hot sauce mixture and dip, once again, in flour. Then place in deep fryer until golden brown, just a couple minutes.
Hi Shawn. Greetings from Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia. My 5 year old son Jimmy and I love watching your videos every night before bed. Keep up the good work!
Talk about a blast from the past...my grandfather had one of these! I don't remember ever seeing it in action but we had fun playing with it (probably not the most sanitary thing...but that was the norm back then).
Try alligator like this: cut into 1/2" thick fillets, dip in whipped egg and then seasoned Italian breadcrumbs. Fry in EVOO in a pan until golden brown. Works great for chicken too. Super easy.
Fried alligator is great. Season to you liking, egg wash and flour. From Louisiana we ate it quite often. Especially at the Shrimp and Petroleum festival always get gator on a stick. Gator and onions battered and fried on a stick.
Fried alligator is not bad. I know....fried foods. But this is how I have had it, and it was not bad. I am glad your family is doing better after that car accident. I was t-boned earlier that year I admit I was lucky, even though I had many issues after it
I like the idea of this trap because one careless rat could make one or several careful rats being swept under the rug. I agree with others who say the back should lead to a bucket so that the rats can't try to get out through the gate. Really unique construction that with a few tweaks could be really successful.
As a subscriber after you post you video it shows up in my feed, this one was 54 minutes after you posted it. No bell ckd. That's pretty good. Great videos Shawn.

I was once in Montréal, Québec. We choose Casey's as our restaurant of the week and surprise, they had a plate build around alligator or crocodile 'steak'. That was a while ago, more than 20 years, but you never know. When looking at the menu, our way was to scan the whole menu to find something we didn't know, not used to or prepared in a way we were not accustomed to. That day we were served.
Once when I was going to school I saw an old lady holding a kettle of boiling water and on her other hand is one of those sticky mouse traps then what she did next is she poured the boiling water in the trap and the rats started screeching like literally they were trying to get out but then they died bc of the burns then she tossed the trap with the dead rats she trowel it in a trashbag
Why am I so surprised at how intelligent those rats are! Even the parents teach their little rat babies how to avoid traps! 😂 Anyhow I absolutely love your videos Shawn and hope you & the family are well!
This was one of my favourite traps. It seems like a completely different mechanism to most other traps. I'm sure it could be improved to overcome those flaws. It's probably pefectly fine to catch one or two varmints as opposed to the infestation at Shawn's place.

I feel like the trap would be improved a lot by having it drop the rats into a bucket below.
The easiest way would be to remove the back chicken wire then make a funnel to the bucket. The drive to escape will drive them into the bucket.
I would like to see that modification in action! I am thinking the rats may be too smart to enter a funnel unless they were actually thrown into it.
And make it electrical motor driven
@@Matt-dc8lp That would be quite a complicated modification. I think the fact that this is all driven by springs is brilliant
