    Holy shit, thanks for 1 million views! Never thought this video would explode like this…
    Being honest, I don't think there will be a second part. I just can't find the right style/algorithm, it ends up either too boring/disharmonic or too similar to this one.
    Adding more constraints (like applying a "box blur" on the number sequence) would solve these problems, but that also lessens the purity of the number-to-music-transformation and therefore contradicts the whole point of the video.

      It sounds good because of the "algorythym" used, he used the numbers from 1 to 9 Assigning them one note of the C major pentatonic scale, he also puts a c major chord progression. It doesn't work for the forces of nature

    Very enjoyable. What enables it to work is the harmonization. Hearing the melody alone would sound pretty random. This is less of a criticism and more of a kudos to your good harmonization.

    • @ericwang9348
      @ericwang9348 5 лет назад +4

      BranRitt the harmonization is a basic I vi IV V in C major. The reason it sounds okay is because any note on the major pentatonic scale will sound okay with any chords diatonic to the key.

    In high school, I learned that the 360th decimal place of pi is 360. I only know this because my math teacher told me about it and also had the number pi written all along the top of the room. And there it was, 360 in the 360th decimal place.

      Math is music. Don't believe me research it or learn to count the beat or learn to read music.

    • @danielmoylan3033

      Music is a natural manifestation in our heads, and math is our way of describing natural phenomena (along with science for a humanized understanding, but in reality it all basically boils down to math. science tells us how to apply the math, and a lot of math still yet is involved in figuring that out).
      Although with a pentatonic scale you can make NEARLY ANYTHING sound good.
      ANYTHING.
      SHOW ME SOMETHING THAT SOUNDS BAD WITH A PENTATONIC SCALE! I DARE YOU!
      And I also bet that you can't really do the same type of thing with really any other type of scale other than an arpeggio, which is cheating since its like a continued I chord.

    • @meeethya

      Rom From Russia ну, я могу поспорить, ведь музыка - это особое природное явление, и не только человек выражается в музыке, но и природа в целом. Правда, человек вправе сам для себя решать, чтó есть музыка именно для него. Иной человек не найдёт музыки в возгласах кукушки, а иной умудрится уловить музыкальные нотки даже в каркании вороны. Тут роль играет и то, в каком смысле, с какой стороны берётся понятие музыки, как человек понимает музыку, в широком смысле или узком.

    • @berni2905
      @berni2905 6 лет назад +3

      That some combination can be found infinite amount of times in decimal places of pi. It has to be proven to be a mathematical fact. It can't be fact just because somebody thinks so.

    • @berni2905
      @berni2905 6 лет назад +3

      Top 2 answears say that it "seems quite likely" and "π is not known to have this property, but it is expected to be true" and this Wikipedia article is about random numbers so it just prooves that you can't tell if your theory is true.

    • @berni2905
      @berni2905 6 лет назад +9

      Well, that's not what infinity is. If we had a number that for example look like: 0,012345678900112233445566778899000111222... etc. it would "have" infinite amount of numbers but it wouldn't contain all the combinations. You can easily make other more complex examples. Sorry, but you don't seem to be very good in abstract thinking. And punctuation.

      i was bored to the first line this is not beautiful, more u listen it more u find it painful, it's like if i press full random notes with a repetitive hell piano background. I'm agree with u Matt

    ive had this video in a playlist with a single other video since middle school. i remember walking between classes playing it in my headphones, its cheery upbeat randomness being the main thing keeping me going throughout the day. its one of my fondest memories of school in general. recently i looked through the playlists i had, and stumbled across said playlist once more. im 18 now, ive been out of school for a year, and yet this song has once again become a go-to for a small burst of motivation and energy that is sorely needed after this whole pandemic and the rest of the chaos thats ensued. this is basically the only song with no lyrics that can cheer me up from the bad moods i didnt even know i had. even after all these years, im still here lurking and listening to this masterpiece. what compelled me to write this? i dont know. maybe the fact that its 6 am and i havent slept? point is, im glad this video is still up, its been very helpful surprisingly :}

    That's base 10 specific, try going for a more natural base and have the numbers represent frequencies!
    Great video nonetheless.
    EDIT: I have an idea that I'll probably program when I have the time to do so.
    Note frequency = [Middle C frequency] + 2 ^ ((1/12) * digit in base 12 or 13)

    • @bip901
      @bip901 5 лет назад +1

      @NamedKitten Neither am I, but I would set 0 as the frequency of middle C and every digit above it with a higher frequency - not in a linear way, but rather as the previous frequency times the 12th root of 2.

      Mimi Marie March 14th, the reason is the first 3 digits of pi are 3.14 and if you imagine that as a date you would get 3/14 which is March 14th.
