COC is just a perfect example of a great band that doesn't get the love it deserves. Saw them last year with The Melvins and Ministry, and they were great
Yeah let's see another reaction to the same damn song. There's a million reactions to Clean My Wounds. It isn't even nowhere near COC best song. Just a "radio" hit for the most part.

Some Southern Fried rock in there too. COC started as a punk band and started shifting into a more metal sound in 1990. Everything in there catalog is fire. Can't go wrong. Hope to see you do some more. Diablo from America's Volume Dealer. This band goes back to 1982. Reed Mullin the original drummer passed away on January 27, 2020 RIP.
Senor Limpio, won't regret it, probably their best song with Keenan. COC started out as a hardcore band and whenever Pepper Keenan isn't available they still put out kind of crossover hardcore albums.
Hetfield's favorite band! Legendary band from Louisiana, created the southern groove metal sound. Pepper Keenan is also a member of the supergroup Down, with Phil Anselmo of Pantera, Kirk Windstein of Crowbar, and Jimmy Bower of EyeHateGod. You gotta do a reaction video for Down - Bury Me In Smoke!!!!
CoC’s sound changed with each album. Highlights: Damned For All Time, and Vote With a Bullet, from Stained (1991); Heaven’s Not Overflowing, and Clean My Wounds, from Deliverance (1994); King Of The Rotten, Long Whip/Big America (my #1), and Wiseblood, from Wiseblood (1996). Their earliest recordings were were Metal-tinged Hard Core Punk, and they come from The South. These might be reasons why they were not considered part of the 80’s Thrash scene.
Where are they from? Not too far from your neck of the woods, North Carolina Also gotta get to Albatross, Vote with A Bullet, and my favorite, Clean My Wounds And if you liked this, I recommend Eyehategod Check out Anxiety Hangover, Self-Medication Blues, and one of my faves, New Orleans is the New Vietnam Edit: sometimes I feel like you are really reaching with placing a band in a given subgenre. To me, this is straight blues metal/stoner metal
COC started out as a 3 piece hardcore punk band in 1982 from Raleigh, NC. They are ***hands down***, one of the founding fathers of US Punk. They have always been at the forefront of heavy music, changing styles multiple times. And their logo has been voted one of the most iconic in music history (see my comment on FB 😁) With their 1987 album Technocracy they became one of the first crossover (punk/thrash) bands. They ended up taking a break from music for a couple years, added a singer, and 2nd guitarist (Pepper) and in 1989 released Blind, which was at the forefront of the Stoner rock/groove metal/Southern metal scene. Their singer then left, Pepper took over singing, and that is the iteration you heard today 😁 I knew these guys pretty well back in college (89-92) and I have got A TON of stories. One of these daysp I'll tell y'all about being woken up by Reed and Pepper pelting me with a box of tampons 😆
I was lucky enough to get to see them early last year at The Ryman with The Melvins and Ministry and it was a great show!!!🤘 All three are great bands you should check out!
GUYS! You really need to check out CROWBAR as well, do a reaction on one of their songs. ...after which, you're ready to graduate to DOWN, which features members from Pantera Corrosion of Confirmity and Crowbar. You're gonna love that! Thanks for a great reaction again, CoC is appreciated! 🍻
The drummer on this record is STANTON MOORE. he's a jazz drummer in New Orleans who's in the funk band GALACTIC. he & PEPPER (the singer) grew up together as skate rats in New Orleans. Their Name Means Everyone/Everything Is Being Corroded BY Conformity.
Got to see them twice before COVID and both times with Pepper Keenan on vocals! They were so darn good and you could tell by how comfortable their stage presence was that they had been playing for years and years!!! And Keenan is in a lot of behind the scenes Metallica videos, guess he's good friends with them...
Holy Shit! I'm a fan of this band but I've never heard this song. Heavy as fuck! Pepper Keenan is the lead singer and guitar player. He's friends with Metallica. Check out Albatross and Metallicas cover of Tuesdays Gone With the Wind. Pepper is featured along with Jerry from AIC and John Popper from Blues Traveler. It's kick ass.
That's Stanton Moore on the drums, the drummer for the Jazz funk band Galactic and Garage a Tois. One of the best drummers in the world. He filed in for this album while their drummer Reed Mullin was on hiatus.
This album to me, is some of their best work! Alot of people said the production sucked, but i think that just adds to the heaviness of this album! COC has been around since the 80´s. Still one of the most underrated bands! I dont know why, but they just are. Pepper Keenan COC and Phil Anselmo from Pantera have another group called Down( started in the early 90´s IIRC) . And that is some these guys greatest work! All of it is heavy, dirty and swampy! The total dicography from front to back and sideways is dick dragging heavy!
CoC is awesome. ‘Southern Metal’ - Pepper Keenan (not related to MJK as far as I know) the vocalist and rhythm guitarist is great. Also in Down, tried out to be Metallica’s bassist.. they chose Robert but are good buddies with Pep and the gang. Great live… Check out Clean My Wounds, Who’s got The Fire? Long Whip, Big America annnd, Shelter. Albatross is their big hit.
This drummer is actually a jazz musician, a buddy of theirs they recruited to do this album with. The drummer mentioned he never did anything like this, so the story goes that Pepper, the singer, gave the drummer a Black Sabbath tape and said "Here, play like this". IMO one of their best albums and ive listened to all of them.
Their hardcore/punk and crossover albums are worth listening to. I love the songs Rednekkk (Eye for an Eye album) and Vote with a bullet (off Blind album). Some little known bands cover them - Metallica, Mr. Bungle and the almighty All Out War.
This was the band all my guy friends were into back in the late 80s. Their Album Art Work was really cool. I was aware of them but, Not a Fan. Enjoyed watching Smokey banging his head. He was getting into it. They were more independent. I can't remember what label they were on but it was like SST or something similar. I'd like to suggest 2 bands to check out. MAD SEASON and THE CURE. I Love the Show guys. Wishing you continued success...

This record was fucking incredible, yall definitely need to check out Dirty Hands/Empty Pockets from this one. Nice Acid Bath shirt btw that band rules.
First time ever posting here coc is a great band from NC while Pepper lead vocalist is from Louisiana and he is also a member of super group Down with Phil Anselmo Pepper is also long time friends with James Hetfield and tried out for basset of Metallica after the departure of Jason Newsted . Great songs include Clean my Wounds Albatross and My Grain they mix multiple genres and are ofthen classified as stoner rock as the sound there sound is directly influenced by Black Sabbath.
Although I am thankful that a patron finally hit the mark by finally getting COC on their radar. I feel it had been misfired with this choice not that it is a bad song. But, totally misses the true essence of the hard core southern metal sound that is COC. Listen to “Mine Are The Eyes Of God”.
