I've done everything in this game its so good, you said a few times why would you step up early, if you get up before the 8 count you'll add a lot of charge to your Sunday Punch meter but have to finish recovering your HP in the round its a risk reward mechanic. It's really neat how every character's Sunday Punch combo is how it is in canon, like with Mashiba landing the big Chopping Right comes out best launching it just after breaking the guard with Flickers and Date's is the landing the Heartbreak Shot after that punch he uses to test the distance against Ricardo in the last round of their match, Hawk's comes out after the sway back he does. If you have a perfectly legitimate copy of the instruction manual it has a list of every character's combos in the back. The great thing about the Date fight is you can win it if you're good enough but nobody does the first time don't worry about it I couldn't either I went back after finishing Ippo's story, the way that KO avoidance works is it stops the first knockdown of every fight unless you put them down with a Sunday Punch, a lot of the final boss opponents have it. Sendo dodged the first Dempsey Roll cause he had the finisher avoidance skill on since in canon he has that anti Dempsey measure Mashiba and Sawamura are my faves to play as, hope you get a chance to check out all the characters, not everyone gets a story mode but even the ones that don't feel so accurate, I think it'll have five characters you haven't seen yet who are Manga only so far. Oh yeah one last thing there's a mechanic called Down Maximum where if you land a level 3 Sunday Punch while they don't have much life left it'll take two downs off them for their total
Maybe they showed the Neck roll clip ealrier to remind you that he has that and that was supposed to be the explanation why the damage he takes from hits to the head is negligible. Maybe. Because they never showed it again
I would definitely love to see your thoughts on Punch out particularly the weeds to see if it actually applies to real if you can actually use real boxing strategies to win ignoring all the cheating going on

i play this all the time, however id also recommend the wii one it has motion controls for all the fighting
