Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan is an Indian classical sitar player from Imdadkhani Gharana. He belongs to the seventh generation of Etawah Gharana. Shahid Parvez has performed in all major music festivals in India or abroad. Shahid Parvez also got vocal and Surbahar(sometimes called bass sitar) training from his uncle Ustad Hafeez Khan. He also received training in tabla for many years from Ustad Munnu Khan of the Delhi Gharana.
Raag Gawati (also known as Bheem) is a very rare raag is an underutilized gem of the Indian raag pantheon. Gawati is a “learned” raag, meaning, unlike many other major raags it leaves the listener with a pleasant and fulfilled feeling but it’s appeal isn’t very obvious.
The time to perform this raag is the "Tritiya Prahara" of the day i.e., from noon to 3 p.m.
This baithak was held at the initiative of Ved Gupta as a part of bazm e Khas foundation live concerts.
The idea behind this upload is to preserve this collection of great music for all music lovers and students of Hindustani music.

58.30 the best part I think
@Bazm-E-Khas I have a small request please increase tabla sound a little bit....I was not able to make out taal easily....
He really enjoys expressing the raga and laykari with Tabla player who is at his level and a really good accompanist.
How about saunâsana and baisikel-mudrâ, my own inventions?
What did Ustad ji said around 23::20, can someone translate into English, please?
He said there must be 'Silsila' in music. Meaning there must be a link or connection in music making. 99% of the music making these days is missing it is what he said.
@@vighneshkamath7277 thank you
Koi table wala dhang ka lena chahiye inke saath
tabla is essentially an instrument for accompaniment. Doing "dhang" as most classical players are keen to let their accompanyists do these days, takes listeners away from the "dhyan" that the main performer intends to bring to the the listeners.
ap is vdo me jo akram khan ji ne sangatki he..vo kya he..jante ho? then u say...'dhang ka' pls tk my wrds sportingly..if guruji..khud..he enjoys his tabla accompany...wht more u wld say...' dhang ka' ..? anyway..ths is public media..all r free to react the way yu like
Do u even know what you are accusing a University of Washington lecturer and AIR Grade A artist?
