I have no idea why people have to get so hostile about the name of a dance, if you don't like it, don't watch these video's, simple as that, some people enjoy dancing the samba as they do in brazil, others like dancing the ballroom version of a samba like they do in this video. The ballroom samba never claimed to be anything like the samba from brazil, so why complain stating the obvious? Some people really need to get a life if something so ridiculous as the name of a certain type of dance really gets to them.

I'm there and let me tell you how hostile those dancers, especially Russians, are to real Latin people. Disgusting! Bottom line: lack of mutual respect.

Also Ballroom or Dance Sport are quite popular in these countries. Anyway I prefer the Ballroom version of Samba, it's more elegant, more dynamic or flexible as it can be danced on bigger variety of songs. European Latin dancers don't need to do acrobatics for their dance to look impressive.

You go at a dance competition, WDSF for example and you see couples from France, Russia, Italy, Denmark, Ukraine, Moldova, Spain, UK, Germany, Slovakia, USA, China etc. etc.all competing on the same floor, it's a true international sport. High level samba is very hard to master, you don't need just technique but stamina, speed as well as charisma. Also it's not a static dance so you move a lot for one part of the dance floor to the other, to be honest I haven't see a Brazilian Latin dancer perform at the same physical and technical level as a Latin American dancer.
