Thank you very much. The plywood pattern is really simple and there are makers doing far more complex designs but they need a table saw really. Give it a go. It's really fun

Just a suggestion Mark, when you can place a piece of board insulation under what you're cutting and adjust your circular saw to go just past your wood. In this way your offcuts stay where they are, and don't go through a big drop. Also give the wood support from underneath and hopefully gives you a cleaner cut with less tear out.

@michaelkolozsvari3575 I have my off-cuts drop all the time, I don't know what you mean, I'd be really happy if you can show an example.
@@itaykomemy He means if you cut in a piece of foam then the off cuts done need to drop anywhere, and so they are less likely to tear.

A man can never have too many clamps. Quick release clamps have their pluses and minuses...the real.minus being if they start to slip or wont tighten enough b4 the mechanism slips.

Hi Neville. Thank you for such a nice comment. You are right about the quick clamps. So far I have had just one that slipped when I tightened it. For a cheap set I saw that as good enough odds. Thank you for noticing that after 24 plus videos I have just figured out how to focus my camera. No joke. I truly am that slow. Thank you for watching, very much appreciated.
That finished frame looks exotic! Actually, it was a combination of simple, but labor-intensive cuts. The coasters were a good use of the cutoffs & anyone would be proud to own a set. When the video began, I thought you were going to build a fancy cutting board. Cutting boards & hot mats are additional items that could be made with your chevron cutting. Your bottle openers really came to life after you added contrasting woods to drilled holes & sawed angular slots or grooves. Unfortunately, we don't see as many bottle caps being used in the US as when I was a kid.
Hi Billfromnh. What a lovely, detailed comment. Thank you for the feedback. To be honest unless you drink beer the same can be said over here. Cutting boards are a great idea, I didn't do it as I was worried about the food safe nature of the plywood and whatever glue they use to join it. Would definitely make a nice table top. I actually finished some more coasters off yesterday where I made one more cut to get a more intricate pattern and they were my favourite. Typical really. I really do appreciate how you comment on every video and watch so many, Very much appreciated. Thank you

Give your Danish oil a couple of weeks to fully cure then try finishing it with furniture wax applied with 0000 steel wool... such a nice finish and improves water resistance. I blew a pile of dosh to test whether Gilboys wax is as good as they claim... it really is, actually money well spent IMHO. I particularly like your inlaid bottle openers! The chevron technique opens all sorts fo options for offcuts and scrapwood, 'Pask Makes' does amazing things with pallet wood and old skateboards!
Oh, I love the old skateboard builds, Woby and Dainer made do a great job with them too. I had the inspiration for the ply chevron design from Alm Fab. He also does a lot more with it. It is a fun use of scraps and now I have a router table I suspect I could get a better finish. We will see. I really want to try this again. Will check out your wax technique. Wood finishing is one of my largest weaknesses. Seems you need a life time of experience to get what works.
I've done those bottle openers using a lathe. I use a collet that holds a threaded shaft with the same threads that fits in the lathe. I also use a tap to cut the threads before putting the wood on the lathe. It makes it easier to thread in and I haven't had the threads strip on anything I've made. They sell kits for wine stoppers and ice cream scoops that I've used as well. They are a quick fun project that requires only small scraps of wood. I like the coaster with the bottle opener on the bottom. Some really great ideas.

Yea..I second the ‘Workpro’ clamps. I have used them for ages. Never had slippage and the clamp pressure is high. Unlike some screw clamps they don’t walk sideways when tightened and of course one handed operation is a boon.👍

Another "good one." Must play with the idea of using scrap ply in a similar way but will have to wait until the spring as I tend to hibernate during the cold weather. If you want a better way of gluing larger multi pieces turn them all on the edge that needs gluing making sure they are together then spread the glue over all of it. Flip them to the gluing position and clamp together. Takes literally one minute when you get good at it.

Mark sorry was bit late to get to this video today but still here. Wanna say thanks for the round about shout out hopefully a was included in part of that towards the end. Those coasters looked amazing may have to steal that idea and attempt that although 3/4" ply dunno what your paying down you end but it's pretty pricy up here. Think it's about 60 quid a sheet. Love the whole look of them all though to be fair the handheld bottle openers were a nice wee idea even the banana shaped one!😲 Have great Christmas m8 if a don't before will catch up with u In the new year. 👍🏴
Hi Michael. Crikey, no need to apologise. You watch them all as soon as they come out, you comment and offer advise, we chat by email. You already do more than enough. And I am very grateful. Luckily that sheet of ply down here was around £45. Some are better quality than others but this one is pretty good. I think that I used around a foot off the length, maybe a little more. If I could sell them I would make more but have not really tried. Acquired taste. Have a lovely Christmas and yes, I look forward to catching up in the New Year. Enjoy
@@startmaking1 honestly m8 a reckon if you could make a batch of say 10 the bottle openers and say maybe 5 sets the coasters say by end the weekend stick them on your Facebook Facebook market place a reckon youd sell out them in a flash be guys doing last minute shi** haven't got presents for other half mother etc 20-25 quid for the bottle openers 30 quid a set coasters reckon you'd be very surprised how quick they go. Will do dude got the other half of the first elm table being finished hopefully for a Christmas present if the legs get here in time for it if not be bit belated and got couple resin and wood ideas up my sleeve. @@startmaking1 yea must say I've been staying away from doing much recently with the weather we've been averaging between minus 6 and minus ten last few days although Tue was -10 and a was out splitting firewood that wasn't fun but necessity! Yea should be interesting what comes from them think serving boards and resin an some really figured wood. Should be fun although that's getting poured in my kitchen again cause weather. 🏴👍
