There are those who come & expect a free ride & all they contribute is nuisance value, and those who work hard & contribute to the betterment of society, state & the country they call home!! Not all Indians are hard working, but our schools expect us to study hard to be promoted to the next grade level - NO free rides!! Every Indian student must be disciplined & respectful in school (class clowns & jokers are tolerated, as long as they are fairly respectful, productive & live up to the intellectual levels of their grade). I was a class clown in India, and then became a Teacher in the US. I appreciated a sense of humor, but it was the indiscipline & disrespect for teachers & adults in general that I found very hard to understand & get used to. I earned respect eventually, but I soon tired of a system that simply encourages mediocrity in school. South Indians are by far the most intelligent of Indians, and frankly, also the most disciplined. Strangely enough the North Indians are the opposite, and the ones in the middle are a little of both. A generalization, of course - but also a fact!! Yet, even the North Indians excel in American schools, because their parents (generally) expect them to study in school & nothing less is tolerated.
