Just picked up a pair of ultra III 28's. Can't wait to feel the comfort difference from my Vittoria pro 23's going thru my cityhood streets

I run my first Specialized Roubaix Pro 23/25c Tires for 10-12k kms a set (when switching front and rear) and never had a puncture, changed the tires because i got to the thread on an emergency braking.
    I am 70kgs.
They are the same weight but are a little bit pricer, you can get them for 30€.

i've had some GP4000's for ever and they are still holding up. still running 23's beleieve it or not until the tyres go. I need to ride more i think! Really interested to hear your views on the titatium van nic. Before all this I was looking at my forever bike but having never ridden one was curiuos on your thoughts. I am looking to try a few audaux's inspired by your very goodself

Adam, Thank you for your view on tyres, I've always maintained the same stance, that is the best ones are the ones you can afford to replace more frequently. Despite that though no one else seems to want to agree, and always want to insist that their type of black rubber is better than another. Tyre worship almost a religion. Keep up the good work on the videos, I don't get bored too often - good job.

Is a bit like supporting a football team to some ppl isn't it. Yeah I've had expensive ones but they still puncture and get cuts, just more ££ to replace. Tubeless being expensive and a PITA to refit would seem to encourage running tyres right up to and beyond their wear limit. Naming no names I've experienced an audax champ falling foul of that one. Let's just say holding the wheel got me a face full of sealant. I'd have been tempted to run them to the limit too to be fair

This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm a novice, I started riding at the beginning of july and did the 100k challenge at the end of the month (with a 32c semi-slick standard tyre on a triban 100). I was looking to upgrade the tyres this month for training and maybe to do the 170k challenge by the 06/09 or a 100miles by the end of september. My 2 choices are the Continental GP 5000 28mm and the Ultra Sport III. At the moment they go for 40eu and 15/20eu a tyres and the difference in rolling resistance is aroung 4/6 watt depending on the psi. As a novice I'm definetely not going to feel the difference so it was just a decision of $$$ invested and $$$ for maintenance. If they are not that much different from a GP4000 and seen the benefit that you explained, I'm definetely buying the ultra 28mm now!! Thank you for the video, subscribed and added you on Strava :)))

Good to hear that helped you a little bit, the ultrasports are still doing me well, got 28c on one bike, 25c on the other. 28c much more comfy, 25c noticeably more nimble and light

@@adamwatkins Thanks Adam, I was in doubt on the 25/28 but from datas it seems that at least for the GP5000 the 28 is slightly faster at lower psi so I supposed that coming from the same manufacturer the Ultra shouldn't show much difference; also as you said: comfort is important, overall for a novice like me that is training for fun to not be stuck between the gym, the supermarket and home during this crazy times. Happy rides and happy life, thank you again!Cheers :)

@@zephyrfpv9871 hey, I'm also riding a triban 100 and am thinking of changing the tyres to the ultrasport. How have they held up so far? would you reccomend them? Thank you

Hello Adam, just switched to Ultra Sport 28-622 und happy with a little but if more comfort versus my old 27s - May I ask which glasses you are wearing in this clip? Looking for glasses I can wear in late daylight / early evening and yours look quite clear. Many Thanks.

Yes no problem, they are from the BBB range, good clear lens. Better than using DIY safety glasses!

Enjoyable ride and I think you must be old skool, as we don’t openly discuss tyre choice anymore, it’s too NOOB like and frowned upon nowadays😂😉👍

I’m using the same size tubes in 28’s as in 35’s. So there’s no space or weight savings either way.

Cheers Captain Dangle! Nowt wrong with Conti Ultras. I've tried them, Gators & GP 4000s and, if I'm being 100% honest, couldn't tell any difference (except in price).

25s at 100psi will ride slower than 28s at 70psi

I've tried ultra sports, but they puncture easily (there's no protection in them). For a few quid more the grand prix (not 4000 or 5000) are better tyres, faster and have some form of kevlar I think. I'm tubeless and minimum 32mm on the audax bike but the 'race' (ha!) bike has 25s with latex tubes now. At your weight I'd run much less pressure, probably 75f 80r on a 25 and 62f 65r on a 28? Check what silca suggests (make sure to put 'poor pavement' to represent the UK roads!)

directions from Continental says no latex tubes to be used in Ultra sport 3 tires. Might be why you flat so much.
