Unfortunately, the educational curriculum in Nigeria has not adequately served Yoruba youths, leading to gaps in their knowledge. Many are unaware that 70 per cent of Kwara state's population is Yoruba, or that there are seven Yoruba-speaking local government areas in Kogi state. Additionally, some are unaware of Yoruba-speaking towns and villages in Edo state like Usens, Egbeta, Aiyegunle Akoko Oke, and Ologbo. Furthermore, there is a lack of awareness among Yoruba youths and politicians about the Yoruba kingdoms in Aniocha North local government in Delta state. They may not realize that "Warri" means "Iwerre," similar to the Iwerre in Oyo state, or that the Itsekiris are ethnically and linguistically Yoruba. This has resulted in a sizable population of educated individuals in Yorubaland who lack essential knowledge about the Yoruba heritage, including the presence of millions of Yorubas living outside Nigeria in West Africa.
