When I first came out of the tunnel I spent an hour or more just wandering the forest, climbing trees and marveling at the beauty of the world they’ve created.
Honestly I’m shocked how good this game is, considering it’s Ubisoft. It’s exactly how I wanted it to be as a fan of Pandora and the Na’vi. The story of the movies is okay, but the setting is the real reason to watch. They’ve perfectly captured it in the game.
I'm curious why you say you are shocked considering it’s Ubisoft. Have you been disapointed by the setting in other Ubisoft games ? I think Ubisoft games in general are some of the best in terms of environments and locations.
@@barbuceanu2005 Ubisoft game environments haven’t felt alive to me since like, Far Cry Primal. Far Cry 5 was fun, but everything since then just hasn’t impressed me. This is _similar_ to their other titles in terms of the formula, but the world feels alive and vibrant and makes me want to explore and see what else I can find. Don’t get me wrong, I can enjoy just about any game. But I was worried this one would be just a Far Cry game in an Avatar skin. So far it seems significantly better than that.
You should start uploading in HDR. They did a really great HDR implementation except for the raised black levels which can be fixed rather easily with lilium's shaders. Looks great!
RUclips makes it hard to do so, I've run into compression issues with his videos before, horizon zero dawn videos to be specific, where the compression algorithm just crushes the blacks. But it's RUclips and their crap algorithm
I'm actually pretty impressed, it geniunly looks like an alien world. I don't really care for the series but this looks like some good fun if you grab it on sale or something.
@@tenborckI wouldn't say more, but just as impactful. And good luck with that. You will be fighting the RUclips compression algorithm. There are a few HDR channels out there and they have to put in A LOT of work to tone map everything properly. It's not made easy is all I'm saying. The problem is still lack of true standardization, they say there are standards, but there are still a few competing ones out there that just muddy the waters. I'm certainly not against it, I have an hdr1000 panel myself and am with you 100%, I'm just saying BUT.......
@@TheChuddington No I don't. Immersion for me is smooth performance, ambiance, great visuals and soundtrack. These games where you customize your character, but never get to see your work are silly. Cyberpunk *cough cough*

I remember I used to have this mindset, then I got older and realized who really cares in the long run. If it's a game I want to play, why waste time and wait for nothing? You only have time in this world. Also, Ubisoft+ is only $15 per month, gives you a chance to at least try and beat the game.
@@SeanOptimoa what you wrote makes a little sense but.. Waiting a year is not that long, and by that time the game will hopefully be bug free and second: depends on your playstyle. I often revisit older games so I don't like games appearing and disappearing like shows on Netflix. Third: exclusives are a cancer. Won't give my hard earned money for as long as it's a certain gamestore exclusive
@@micha3624 My point is, if I want to play a game I'll just buy it. It really doesn't matter what store it's from anyways. Example, I don't own a switch but I still play every new game on my PC. Exclusives are not going away in this society and some will never branch over into other stores. Look at Kingdom Hearts, imagine how much they would have made if they put it on Steam but they never will. Sometimes, if you want to play something now you just have to get over what store it is on.

Whether the story is good or not, this game is a great example of the future we have in game engines. They packed this game, and it looks AMAZING.

biggest problem is that just few people can watch HDR video and I do not want to exclude 70% of the viewers

Man I wish this game was 3rd person like the Horizon franchise. I can spend hours just exploring and listening to that amazing soundtrack.
Don't you find first person more immersive for exploring though? I've always been a bigger fan of first person (other than RDR and some others)
