It's funny up north in NJ there are so many people that attempt and I mean attempt to target mahi and do nothing but spook fish and ruin it for others. The last few seasons I've been murdering them from July into Sept and I use allot of those southern techniques like the kite and lots of live bait. Nobody uses a kite and only a few use live bait. The kite is amazing here on the midshore ground. Bluefin kingfish wahoo tons of sharks, seeing a thresher chase a kite bait is insane
