  • In this video, I start to reassemble all of the interior pieces of the 1965 Ford Mustang. I'm going with a blue and white two-tone color scheme. I get the dash finished up as well as one of the door panels.SUBSCRIBE & LIKE for more content!

    In case you haven't realized it, the clips that the arm rest screw into have to be put in the door, not the door panel. Then the arm rest is installed after the panel is on the door with the screws going through the panel into the clips mounted on the door. Otherwise, you will pull the panel off the door when you go to close it or when you rest your arm on it.

    Looks sweet! Good idea with washers on the back of the particle board panels. I wish I thought of it when I was doing mine! Good idea to make sure all of your window internals and adjustments are spot on before the 3M strips are put in place. They are a mess to take back off. Ask me how I know.

    Great videos! Just a note, the AC hole you sealed is a factory hole. AC often wasn’t mounted at the factory, it was a dealer option so it was installed at the dealership, just like the mirrors! If you ever need to install AC, you have to drill it out now.

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  9 месяцев назад +1

      Oh gotcha, that's good to know! Yeah maybe down the line I'll put AC in, but for now I'll leave it sealed.

      @@VanHoutenBuilds I binge watched all your Mustang videos today! Thank you for the great content. I hope you’re recovering well. Another very important piece of advice is to put a firewall between the trunk and the back seats. That’s a safety modification. These cars had a huge flaw and it’s that during a rear collision often the tank would rupture and throw burning gas inside the coupe. Firewall is a must!

    love what you are doing. im in a similar boat. bought a 65 that had been broken down for painting but didnt get painted. so got it as a big puzzle to put back together along with some pieces missing. where did you source the liner for the door panel ? ive not been able to come across those myself yet in searching. also any pictures you can take of your washer fix for putting the door panels in to make sure they dont push through the panel? thought that was interesting. will be watching your progress. its looking good!

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  Год назад +2

      Thanks! Do you mean the weather paper material that I put in between the panel and the door? If so, I just got that from CJ pony parts. If you mean the windlace for the door frames, I used the old windlace that was on the car, just ended up painting them white to match.

    • @VanHoutenBuilds

    Yes, you are looking good 👍 there brother!!!
    That combo is sweet !!!! I'm glad someone put you onto installing those special speed clips, into the door itself. There are two types for 65-66 cars, as the standard interior like you have, uses one shape and depth clip. And the Pony 🐴 interior version has a different size clip as well. Love watching the progress.. Take care...

      @VanHoutenBuilds  Год назад +1

      Thanks! I didn't know that! Yeah I'm finding all sorts of funky things out about this car as I start to take things apart, like it's an early 65 so it has all of the aspects of a 64 from the hood to the inside vinyl door frame coverings.

    Why not the original red paint and interior?

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  9 месяцев назад

      To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of the color red. Also I know it's such an iconic Mustang color, but feel like I wanted to do something a little different. There are so many red mustangs out there already. However I will say that I considered going with the paint scheme of the Mustang in Operation Fortune after seeing that movie. That was such an amazing looking car!

    You shouldn't assemple the doors until after paint. You risk damaging when you take them off.
