This is amazing. When I was five my best friend's parents were divorced and competed for him with all the toys he wanted. Star Trek was our favorite show, we'd watch it every day after school and he had all the Mego action figures. Every one, plus the bridge diorama with the spinning transporter and he had almost every DC and Marvel, and Planet of the Apes. He was an outright tycoon. My parents weren't divorced and though I had a few DC characters, all I wanted was a Kirk or Spock of my own. I got McCoy. Don't get me wrong, I love the character. But that's not what you want when you're five. My mom's heard how that scarred me for 50 years. When she asks if id have preferred they divorced I couldn't really answer much more honestly than with a shrug. I mean, if there was a chance I might not have only got a McCoy... Lol I think I still have him though.
I wanted the Mego Hulk so bad and he ended up being the last Mego 8-inch figure I ever got (well, him and Spiderman) and that was in 1981. I was 13 and well into Star Wars by then but I just had to have them. A bit weird considering my first two Mego figures were Batman and Robin in about 1974. With almost all the others in between. But I keep forgetting the early superheroes were DC and the latter ones Marvel. I was never a big one for comics...
the Mego Enterprise Bridge playset was everything for me growing up... sure the bridge had NO resemblance to the series (original or animated), but it played well to the imagination... and - if nothing else - that transporter!!! would love to see a Motion Picture Kirk in his admiral uniform or Spock in the space suit (that could be much)... Kruge & Co. from III or even Sybok from V. a mix of the aliens from Trek VI! i also like that you 3D printed a captain's chair for Picard! now he just needs a mug of tea... earl grey - hot! ;-)
The worst thing I remember playing with Mego figures as a kid was the elastic breaking without warning. It was jaw-dropping. It annoyed my dad that I played with 'dolls' but he showed me how to fix them with heavy duty elastic. They never broke again. I was lucky enough to have almost every Mego 8-inch figure released. But in my hometown in Australia we had a store that wasn't a toy shop but it sold rare action figures. I think the guy had them imported or had someone bring them back from overseas because they never appeared in any of our regular toy shops. There was this one figure he had from the Superhero line that I wanted called Mr. Exylepizal (and I still couldn't care how it's pronounced or spelled) but this guy had a half-price sale in his shop one time. The figure mentioned was 5 dollars (as all his rare Mego figures were). So I worked around the house for my mum and she gave me $2.50 to buy it. Well I ran down the street and it was still there but when I took it off the shelf the new price sticker was $10 dollars crossed out and $5 written underneath. The arsehole had marked everything up to mark it back down to it's full price during his 'half-price sale'. And that was the day I lost all faith in humanity at 8 years old...
New mic was good. That is an impressive range my friend, I only have Mego TWOK Kirk and Spock as it would be a rabbit hole to get TOS (despite them being my fav series). Interesting point on unoform sets!
The ship is a 3d printed delta scout ship beta from 2nd dynasty, the STL files are for sale on my mini factory.com I normally use if for sci fi RPGs like Traveller, Star Wars or Alternity.
Great video my friend and you got a new subscriber. I am happy that mego star trek is back but I wish they would make a star trek vintage look line and then the new star trek line with the new head molds. Bc this mix of vintage look and new big head look is not work I ng 4 me.
