    I'm not afraid of God. I just can't figure out why he'd notice me at all. I'm nobody. I'm less than nobody; I'm an invalid, I'm old and poor and helpless. I'm a terrible servant!
    And yet God still loves me. That is amazing.

      But you are not 'nobody', you are a child of God (although i understand your meaning) I am a terrible sinner and at the lowest point of my life, ready to exit by self harm, I heard a Church bell ring, I returned to Church and my new journey with God began, still on this road and when I doubt God's love I just sing, Jesus loves me, over and over. It works for me. How blessed we are to receive such love and forgiveness ❤️ 🙏 God bless you.

    Being a mother has helped me 100% understand how God feels about us. If my kids messed up, I would never want them to hide from me. I would want to be the first person they came to so I can help them. I think that’s how God feels about us.

    Father Columba, I stopped going to mass due to the non-acceptance of my autistic/adhd son. Bottom line he just wasn't wanted at the school and was rejected by other parents as if this condition is contagious. He is a young adult now and has improved but he is still who he is. I had to walk away and teach him, that was not the way. He is very accepting of others but struggled with why he was not accepted. I had to take his formation into my hands as well as his education. He has done his communion but he isn't sure he wants confirmation. As luck would have it my oldest son has a son also on the spectrum which I also help take care of. I love that you get so real with us. I think Catholics in America could use some dose of reality.

    A beaut! Excelled yourself, Father. I stopped going to mass for years because I was "too sinful" - which I was - and He kept holding the door open and inviting me in. The enemy is the antithesis of Love, but God IS Love, and that's what I forgot.

Religious people truly are a gift to people like me who get distracted by the world. With videos like this I can see plainly the kind of heart people who are close to God have which makes me more and more attracted to the Faith and want to continue being faithful. As soon as I am able I will help whatever I can. I continue to pray for you all.

    This is exactly what I found out several years ago and changed my life. I was reading about st Theresa of Lisieux and when she explains about two children who sadden their father. One kisses his father telling him how much he loves him and the other runs away. I was the second one. And I thought at the time that the first one was cheeky. When I began to see that it wasn't true my heart almost burst into joy.
    I still have to remember this truth, but my relationship with God has totally changed for good.
    Sorry I'm Spanish and my English is not good.

    When I see what Christ went through to redeem us it makes me wonder : How could he have gone through it all knowing in advance where this was all going. After losing my best friend I became scared of death, only to find out later that it was the fear of separation, the absence of love. If we were convinced of eternal love, we would no longer fear death. Lord give us that inner certainty so that we can nestle into your ever open arms, not later but right now.

    When I came to faith I found great comfort in the parable of the Prodigal Son. Then, along the line I heard some priest (or other Christian "authority figure") say that "we begin as the prodigal son but at one point we need to accept that now we have been saved, so we have to learn to identify with the other son, only without feeling the envy that he did." It is several years ago, and it did something to me which I just only now as I hear this, begin to realize the impact of. Because I am the prodigal son and I can't in any honest way promise that I'll "stay at home" - so, I guess it's been creating a shame spiral instead of a trust spiral. Thank you, fr. Columba, for alerting me to this!

    Hello Father, Calling from Belgium and rejoycing every bit of your talks... One question : I'm convinced the Lord loves me, I feel like a Sunday child, walking through life with a light step even when my parents died very early in my life, even when my husband got a brain tumor (we have 4 children at the time quite young...), even when I lost my husband after almost 15 years of illness (which is very exceptional for cancer in the brain, but I asked that our children would have boh parents untill they would be able to look after themselves... which was literally the case!). So I really feel very loved, my question is: How do I know I love the Lord???? Sometimes I doubt that I do not love Him, does He really come in the first place when I get up in the morning,. During Mass we say that we want the thank Him always and everywhere... Well, this is certainly not the case. I feel comfortable with the knowledge that He is always there, caring for me. I doubt whether I care enough for Him, how can I show my love - or is it not really love.. maybe...???
    Thank you for all your fine work!

    So in Hebrews " bring many sons to glory" means not just accepting Christ as savior his mercy his love, but without becoming obedient learning how change life with repentance. Or learning how to turn a broken will over to Gods will? Learning how to "let God" do for us that which we cannot do for our-self? What if a person accepts Jesus as Lord and savior but never changer their sinful life will they go to hell?

    Hmm interesting. Personally my biggest obstacle is the litergy. I would be much more inclined to go if it was sermons explaining things like these videos, but I find the repeated sayings back and forth (with a number of the congregation sounding not very interested) kill any engagement or dialogue.
    Its like jumping into a classroom at school half way through them memorising times tables.

    • @ctmcatholic
      @ctmcatholic  2 года назад +2

      That can be demoralising, I’m sorry that’s been your experience. Hopefully there is a better parish nearby, it may be worth having a scout around. Also, just remembering that although the sermons may be lacklustre at times, we’re there for the worship of God and we should try (even though it is difficult) to focus on giving Him what He is due.
