Thanks for sharing. This is my first season using the bush hog. Finding videos like this has helped a lot in understanding it's use and capabilities. Looking forward to tackling the overgrown pasture with similar size trees now.
I love bush hogging. On the sweet gum that you were going to save for the chainsaw, raise your bush hog and back it down. Love your work. My wife says that I should be working with the highway mowing. I relaxes me more than anything else.
It is a blast until something breaks, so far breaks have been rare for me. I wish I had a cab with a cushy seat, tinted windows, a/c and a stereo... I would put in a lot of hours mowing then...

Now THAT is a bush hog video! It's really the first one I've seen it's actually cutting bushes and brush. All the other ones are just tall grass and weeds with the occasional 6-month-old sampling in there.
I enjoyed the video. The limits of your bush hog were known, and respected to get the maiximum performance while maintaining the longevity of the equipment.

@@chud327 Sorry for my English. I'm using a translator. "Gimbal" is PTO. And the question was about the gear ratio of the mulcher gearbox, not about the engaged gear on the tractor :)
@@chud327 It is easy to find out the gear ratio of the mulcher's gearbox. You make a line on the input shaft with a marker and also on the output shaft. You watch how many times the output turns for one revolution of the input. It is usually 1:2. I still have a question about the PTO of your tractor. Can you switch to the PTO even higher speeds? For example, it is possible on modern tractors.
This video reminds me of my grand dad. He had 110 acres that was about half timber and he used a 3000 Ford and a cheap brush hog to control the underbrush. The tractor had a brush guard very similar to this one and if he could run over it and keep the front end on the ground he’d shred it. I’ll never forget one day he came back from brush clearing on the place and the gear case was broken out of the mower deck. We had to put the exhaust system back on the tractor a few times too. My dad bought a heavy duty Bush Hog and we didn’t use it that much so he and dad swapped and we had a new deck built for the broken one.
Very cool memories, this on has had broken exhaust in the past too. I only have 10 acres and only mow part of it, I couldn't imagine 110 acres... thanks for watching.
